Title: Credit where credit is due <<S>>
Post by: Alpha81 on February 18, 2015, 04:08:19 PM
So I hear " That's NKL5 in the Ar234" I Perk up and realize now's my chance, I have speed I say to myself, I have altitude I say to myself, I won't let myself get sucked in behind him I say to myself... because I too have been victim to his rear shooting homing missiles.

Proudly and Majestically I dive, open guns at D600 (tuned at 650)...Hits! many many Hits!

I can feel the corners of my nouth begin to curl upward, you sir are a magnificent weapon of war (Albeit Cartoon) I say to myself as his wing departs his aircraft...

Unbeknownst to me, the sneaky and always attentive NKL5 has loosed a 500Kg bomb, seen here as the "Bad Thing"

As I dive under his broken hulk of twisted metal, I begin to reflect on just how impressive that dive and of course the splendid display of gunnery work that I deftly executed, I hear an explosion and before I can register the sound, I'm in the tower.  Now at home sitting at my desk, I actually spun my head around to see what evil person or being just plucked my pristine beautiful Hellcat out of the air.

Wait, what, what just happened...Did I get shot with my own ack... there's no way another enemy plane could have gotten me, I checked the surrounding area prior to dropping in. I bellow into my mic as though some child just dropped his ice cream cone in the dirt. My fellow squad-mates are silence, I can feel them staring at their monitors, blinking in awe of the string of obsenities that I inundated them with... I wait a few minutes in the silence, apologize and go watch the film...............NOOOOOOO, he killed me from the grave with a Bomb! I thought it near impossible to shoot anyone down blindly with that rear facing gun, but what measure of incredible skill or luck is killing a Hellcat traveling at 400MPH with a BOMB!

<<S>> NKL5 Nicely Done

Something similar happened to me but was backwards and a bit more extreme...

I lost all three B-29s to a 152 that flew through my bombs as I was dropping on enemy strats. the splash damage took out the lead, #1 drone and took the wing off of the #2 drone.

Probably my best "move" ever in AH was to clear a squadie that was dragging a N1K on the deck by dive-bombing the N1K with a 500 lbs bomb from the bay of my mossie.

The bomb detonated perfectly under the N1K and insta-killed it. I am sure it was a WTF moment for that player as well as for my self because I hardly belived it would work.

Best part is that I got it on flim :)

I used to do this to vulchers in WBs.  I'd .dfuse my bombs and strategically drop them so the vulcher was blown to smithereens.   Lots of rage PMs over that.   :rofl

I remember in one of the scenarios we learned real fast to not get to low when attacking a field with rockets. Think we lost 3 or 4 in the first pass to friendly fire.

I remember there was a bomber dweeb over there that used .dfuse as his main defensive tactic.  You'd get on him and he'd run on the deck.  If you started trailing him, he'd drop a bomb.

Wiley.

I also remember some fighter guy would ditch at 300 mph somehow in friendly territory and deny kills.

My first mission after they introduced WB3 I was in a GV and noticed two bombs land next to me doing nothing but they did vibrate.

I thought they were duds until they blew up and tracked me but I was on a steep hill and was still able to drive to my target.
