Title: Spring is here.
Post by: FBKampfer on March 09, 2015, 04:16:36 PM
72 at my house, the sun is out, I just mowed the lawn, and now I'm relaxing on the deck with a nice cold one, and the dog is panting on her bed.
I honestly can't remember the last time I was this happy.

82 here now, noooooo! arggh 100s before we know it.
I can't recall when we really have spring and fall here, they seem to last 2 weeks.
Here come the a/c bills...
On the upside bulky clothing is discarded for revealing attire and if you're ever here in spring semester take a walk around ASU's campus & go out on Mill Ave :aok
Or Rural Rd in downtown Scottsdale for those cougar plastic aficionados.

Let me share a story with you:
I hail from the piney Arkansas south, Where two oak-lined rivers come to a mouth. A festival was held for all around, But not a blooming daffodil was found. The pedals were bare, green grass we did lack, For smooth white did rise to a squirrel's butt crack.
The End.
Seriously, 6-8" of ice/snow during the last week of February followed by another round of 3" ice/snow for the first week of March. Just to sum up our year, November was unusually cold - then December was unusually warm. January was pretty average, but February we froze our tails off with the cold and moisture hitting right for winter weather. Had one bout with freezing rain causing minor damage to our pine plantations, but we faired allright.

I'm so glad I don't live in the awful part of the country. Scrubbed and fired up the grill, cooked up some bratwurst I'd been marinating in a stout. Nice fresh baked buns, some spicy mustard, and smoked sharp cheddar. Washed down with some more stout, I think it may have been on of the most enjoyable meals I've ever eaten.

Well...our winter happened in February and the first week of March here in NE OK...today its supposed to be in the mid 70's so I guess spring has sprung here, but along with warm temperatures and spring, (casts thoughtful look towards the sky), we tend to have those lovely tornadoes, so the cleaning of the ol' fraidy hole will commence this weekend...last year we were lucky, all the tornadic storms went well north of us, in '13 a EF2 touched down about 3/4 of a mile north of the house and headed right towards town it tore stuff up for 8 miles but no one was hurt...hopefully this will be a quiet year...

My twelve year old asked me to pump up her basket ball today. She just smiled ear to ear as I turned on the compressor and found the right attachment.
It is great to be a Dad in the spring!.

I'm not saying a damn thing about the weather here in Georgia, I don't want anyone to use it against me when I complaining about the 100 degree temp and damn near 100 % humidity.

We were well above freezing for a while, but woke up to an inch of snow, again, this AM.
Much of my mothers side of the family hails from Scottsdale/Phoenix AZ (Happy Jack as well in the winters/hunting times). I can remember my parents telling me "it's so hot you can cook an egg on your car". Ya, whatever. I always seemed to forget the astonishing heat there every year, because on a yearly summer trip down there, it hits you right between the eyes - as brutal as our winters can be up here, it's NOTHING like the summers down there.
You can always put on more/warmer clothes. You could run around with nothing on and a cold shower permanently spraying above your head, and it still would feel like the 7th circle of hell - HOT. It's great.
