Wife just happens to be on a girls' night out, might get to see the whole damn thing. Normally it becomes desperately important to vacuum something just around start time.
-
I just watched qualifying.
The big question is what on earth have Honda been doing for the past year and a half, saw the times in Q1 and was like  They will be lapped by half the field in the race (if they don't break down) Alonso is probably sitting at home pondering how to get out of that contract.
-
Heheheh, yes, it might go some way to explaining his accident.

The Arnie podium interview. :rofl
I don't know why but I found it hilarious.
-
Yeah, Lewis' reaction was great.
Arnie is doing a series of commercials down here, think they're real-estate related, though I think Qantas and Rolex were the major sponsors, maybe the real-estate guys had a chunk of the GP.
Perhaps Red Bull brought Arnie down, think they're based in Austria. My kid and I were heckling the TV during the interviews: "OK Nico, nau zay it in Ghermun. K'mahn, you can dou it!"

Arnie did a much better job than many of the other interviewers which were more awkward moments than interviews. Kinda like the interview movie.

LOL must be a wife thing, happens at my house all the time. I'm sure back in the Roman times when husbands would lay on their benches to watch the chariot race, their wife would pick up the broom and start sweeping the floor in front of him. It's genetics......we're screwed

What a snoozefest, unless your a Hamilton or Mercedes fan.

Agreed! I had hopes for this season with the return of honda but it looks like nothing will change until Bernie is 6ft under.
I havent missed a race since the early 80's but if this noozefest continues this season I might not go out of my way to make sure I see the races.

Malaysia was a pretty good race. Nice to see some resurgence of form at Ferrari, they had the pace for a 1-2 finish if Kimi hadn't had the puncture. I just hope Ferrari build a car that both drivers like and not shift all focus to Vettel like RB did.
Listening to Mercedes team radio also reminded me of all the reasons why I'm not a fan of Hamilton.
-
I like Louis but it was really nice to see a red car win, just wish it was the other one. Also would have been nice if Marcus Ericcson would have kept it on track he was on a tear. I don't care what the announcers say I think the Saubers look awesome, and they are performing well too. Toro Rosso > Red Bell :ahand

I have no doubt that Honda will get it sorted and produce a decent power unit.
McLaren aren't complaining about results or progress, quite the opposite.
Even Alonso and Button are positive regards the future of McLaren Honda being competitive
in the latter part of this season.
Ferrari seemed to have nailed it, split the Merc's in qualifying and won the race. They have shown themselves
to be back in the constructors fight for sure.
I hope Williams pick up from last season, I always had a soft spot for that team and
Bottas will be F1 Champ' one day I'm sure.

I miss the days when gp was about a finely tuned carburettor and and some balls in the saddle.. now its all technology these days..

You must be old! :old:
I miss the turbo days in the early 80's,where you could add all the boost you wanted but you had better be careful or you might run out of fuel on the last lap!
I had to laugh at Louie tho,"dont talk to me when I'm in the curves......" :rofl :rofl The spoiled brat shows his true colours.
Oh well,he can always go drive nascar when he cant handle the curves anymore, they only need to turn left!

While I enjoyed the Aussie GP, the real race was the Moto GP with Rossi taking the win. The top 4 guys passed each other 100 times easy. One of the most exciting races ever with Ducati finding some unbelievable power and faster than anything top speed and acceleration.
-
Actually the Hondas had about 5kmh on the Dukes on the straight, according to the radar thingy. They apparently just can't go round corners. Who'da thunk last season I'd be saying a Duke was out handling a Honda?

swoop, is it really out handle or better engine mapping to let the bike come out of the corners without lighting up the tyres?
I didnt catch the motoGP,I'm not techie enough to figgure that internet stuff out and they dont show it on TV here anymore,a shame...

Where is here? I watched the end of the MotoGP race on TV the other night, presumably live.

I just got to see the last 20 laps of that MotoGP race Rossi was absolutely an animal on that bike it was a very exciting race to watch I found myself leaning lol
-
Ya know what I hate.....the gyro stabilised front facing camera. The bike leans round the corner, the camera doesn't and I find myself craning my neck sideways to see where it's going properly.
Morf, no it's handling. HRCs ECU mapping is famously awesome, always has been. Honda spend millions on ECU software....which is one of the reasons next year there's a rule change to only allow standardised ECU software. No, last year's Duke had a major problem turning in, the understeer was fierce. This years bike is all new and Ducati (pron: Audi) have solved it. If you do manage to catch the race somehow, check out the wings they stuck on the front.
However, another thing that irks me is that.....yet again.....Ducati have been doing badly at a sport, whinged and complained and threatened to leave until the organisers cave in and give them concessions. Despite being a factory team, Ducati is running the open class rules......which means they're allowed more fuel, softer tyres, more engines and their development isn't frozen. And now Ducati are taking 2 out of the three places on a podium. Remind anyone else of WSB in the 90s?
Cheating Italian b******s they are, always have been and always will be.
Thankfully, the MotoGP Gods included a clause where if they take 3 podiums in a season they're back on factory rules so this current run of success isn't going to last.

overhaul it all, bring it back to carbs and two strokes I say, with of course modern chassis and tires compounds... motorcycle racing not computer racing..

That was defintely one hell of a race.. MotoGP is so much more exciting than auto racing IMO...

Swoop,
I'm surprized to hear this! I know honda has the cash, sort of like Ferrari or MB,but that doesnt mean they always get it right.
I havent seen a motoGP race for a couple years, they just dont carry it on TV in Canada,I might find a specialty channel that has the races but I havent seen them advertized.
I've been a duke fan for years, the first time I saw a desmo valve system was I was hooked!
I guess I'll try to find the race online and watch to see what the race was really like,if Zoney gets excited over it it's got to be a barn burner!!!! :aok
Years ago I had the pleasure of riding a RD350LC track bike that my buddy raced,he would let me wear his leathers and put a few laps in during testing. I wasnt as fast as him but I was slightly lighter so our lap times werent too far apart.
I couldnt campain my our bike...... it's a long story and well I'm not very proud of the reasons...... :o
