That receiver must be 95% deaf, I tuned 10 stations on my HF radio that are S9+20 and stronger and the online radio only heard one of them. Used shortwave stations broadcasting in AM mode and some SSB beacons.
If anyone whats to listen to HF communications, you are better off buying a GOOD shortwave radio that will tune in SSB also. Also an antenna switch with different antennas (vertical, dipole, long wire, etc) as you may hear just barely above the noise floor on one and 40 over on a different one. Make sure good coax and grounding also.
Receive only radios, you can expect to drop $300 on a multi mode

After about 6 last night I hopped in the DWS teamspeak. They said the channels had been silent since 4, but we did get a skyking x2 last night around 10.

I am by no means an authority, but by the nature of my job I would probably know something.
Maybe ya'll know something I don't.

It's apparently going on right now. 5000 NATO troops training near the Russian border. The Russians have launched their own "counter exercise". What's the worst that can happen? It's not like wars have started like this... right?

Still training to fight a conventional war instead of counter-insurgencies....

You obviously should be disqualified on providing any input here because of the bias you bring to the discussion. Exposing your own prejudices based on information you may have been exposed to at work does not make it a "fact" that should impede those of us that have something, anything, to say.

The incident of Monday/Tuesday appears to have concluded. To date, we have found no outside, independent confirmation of the events monitored in the Arctic area. Radio communications were judged to be authentic and not a drill or exercise, yet empirical evidence of either an actual encounter or an exercise has not been located to promote either conclusion. At this time, we are classifying the incident as an Unknown Event.
At this time, however, known drills and exercises are taking place by both Russian and American forces. Russia has reacted to American drills by mobilizing many of its forces in several areas. We are monitoring these due to the close proximity of forces as well as heightened tensions in the region. Additionally, there is heavier fighting in the Ukraine as Russians along with rebels move past lines drawn by the cease fire agreement. NATO forces have moved into the vicinity, and backdoor agreements between NATO and the Ukraine have been made.

I have heard that the Russians have been pushing into English territories... trying to test the resolve of NATO... and apparently they have been more than well into it... And that there was a large presence of Russian fighters over the arctic area

I always knew that russians were idiots but it really seems they're preparing for the next world war. I hate them from the bottom of my heart.

And you are right of course. I should not / will not inject any fact into this discussion. Besides, I can get in trouble for it.

That radio station link is pretty interesting though, I'm currently listening to Radio Romania.
Which is better than the space aliens, fax machines and Philippino taxi despatchers I was listening to previously.
And, lol, there's morse on 8799.57. Always said I'd learn morse, never did.

I think that the OP was OK, I am glad it is was posted. After some reasonable guesses as to what might be going on, a credible explanation settled it all.

I'm hoping this is sarcasm. If not, yeah, how dare he let facts get in the way of insane speculation!
I too have heard absolutely nothing of any concern. Nothing but exercises.

Normally I SWL (Short Wave Listen) on my Yaesu FT 757 GX MK 2 and a 100' low band antenna, but that's overkill for most listeners.
You can easily get by with a Yachtboy 400 by Grundig (gettum off ebay) for around $70 bucks. Add a 100' or so piece of wire as high as you can get it then wrap the wire around the antenna four or five times and you will have a shortwave listening radio that will do you well from AM radio band to 30 mHz for less than $80 bucks.
Of course, better radios are more expensive -- but the Grundig gives you AM for all the AM and shortwave broadcasters as well as USB/LSB for things like hams, military, commercial airliners, CIA "numbers" transmissions. Before I had my ham antenna put up I listened on 1.8 mHZ for the ARRL 160 Meter Contest and could pick out individual CW (morse code) signals very easily. That's when I knew the Grundig was a keeper. Plus it's small size makes it highly portable for trips to the beach, vacation, cruise ships, or even taking it to the big game to listen to the play by play.

Without going into a lot of detail, in recent days, there have been several occasions where Russian and NATO Alliance Nation pilots have been able to wave at each other while doing their jobs
