Some people might want to try to find ways to make their own custom gunsights, or try to find places through the bbs pages.
I was proposing that maybe we could make a thread for the use of gunsights and gunsight packages for those looking to find it, would be helpful. Use a few of the gunsight packs there are(ex. Bustr's gunsight pack) for sticky's and such.

Well we've had a bunch of those. I'm sure you find a bunch of gunsights just by doing a search on the BB. Although it is always fun to post new sights!

Hey you can wallpaper your gunsight by using a picture of say Jessica Rabbit and reducing her luminosity down until her red dress is about #19000. Then set that as your background mask and place a dot in the center. Then the flash from your guns or holding it over the ground will show a....well. Now that is some gunsight. Use your imagination from there on wallpapers.
Using the same theory, you can set your gunsight down on a layer of something like blue #00214 2-4 pixels wider which will give an edge glow to the gunsight structures. Call it a "Nimbus" effect. You can use red or orange to make that orange glow like the MKII gunsight photos on the Internet you can find now. The light diffuser makes a yellow reticle with the original light bulbs in place at full strength. As you turn the rheostat dial down the reticle becomes more orange.
I'm not sure if anything other than gimp and paint.net saves in 8bit RGB dithered BMP these days. Photoshop will only do 8bit Indexed BMP. Who knows, maybe Hitech will change the format to 16 or 24bit RGB with the next game version.

Pretty sure there are third-party plugins that'll let you do that in Photoshop... it's been awhile, but it's probably worth having a look if you're an Adobe user.

Looked around, some blogs, the experts say only 8bit indexed in PS. Some plugins that cost a lot infer 8bit RGB BMP.
In the end it's a pain creating my gunsights in PS. Saving as RGB BMP allows blur effects and dithering. Indexed, well I'm not sure game gunsights and the effects were what 8bit indexed was all about. Now 16 and 24 bit RGB, yes. I suppose 8bit is to cut down on what gets put in memory while flying around in the game.
