How exactly are you going to prepare them? Spread the mustard on the beef, add a slice of cornichon and some hacked onion, roll the beef and tie the roll with a slice of bacon? Pan, oven, grill? Thank God I just had my dinner! <where's the drool emoticon when I needed it>

Almost.
Salt & pepper the beef, thinly spread the mustard over it, but 1-2 sclices of bacon on it (usually I take pieces of bacon, not slices). Then roll up the beef. Sear it well from all sides in a pot with a quatered onion and some tomato paste. Pur meat broth into the pot until the Rouladen are half covered, add some pimento and a small dried bay leaf. Let it simmer gently for 1-1.5 hours.
I will serve it with some very young needle beans wrapped in bacon and potatoes.

Yummy! German style potted meat, I love that! Just the other day my daughter made a Bavarian meat pot, beef cubes and some pork simmered in dark beer. Teeth were unnecessary when eating it.

Well, where is the presentation picture? Don't tell us you didn't get a picture when it was all plated out!

I'm not good at this food presentation thing. I leave that to the folks with any eye (and the dinnerware :D) for that
;)

What's wrong with you people? Can't you read the printing on the tube? Or do they only sell lube in tubes where you come from? And no, I didn't recognize the contents by the colour, they don't sell that brand here. :bhead

Not necessarily 'lube' but over here, that kind of tube is used far more for industrial applications than foodstuffs. Also 'Thomy' is not a brand I recognize, though I am far from a mustard conoisseur.
The first thing it made me think of was glue or sealant, to be honest. ;)

Again, can't you people read the printing on the tube? It clearly says "Delikatess Senf". Not "Outboard Gearcase Lubricant". No matter what the brand is. You do know that Heinz is lots more than ketchup, don't you? Just as this isn't a soap or pumice dispenser although it looks like one:

Outside of the obvious context, if I'd happened to notice the scrollbar at the bottom of the pic, I would have probably figured out it was a foodstuff based on the 'delikatess'. However, I did not, so all I saw was 'THOMY' which means nothing to me. I am sorry your sensibilities are so deeply offended. Again, not much food comes in a toothpaste style dispenser over here.

One of the most interesting benefits here on the forum and the Vox and text buffer is the exposure to other cultures. Lots of good people all over the world.

We dont have food stuffs in such containers here in America. Its more reserved for stuff like sealant, toothpast, KY Jelly.....ect. In Africa they have some kind of coffee in vacuum sealed bags that makes one entire pot with like one spoon of coffee. So I put my usual 6 spoons in and we were all running around the bushveldt all morning jacked up on caffeine.
We got some German restaurants here that will knock your socks off. One in particular has great food and a beer garden to enjoy it in.

Didn't know you don't use a high resolution screen for reading these. Now I do. After doing some research I also have learned that over there liquid spice sauces are sold by the gallon even for regular households. Since that applies to Tabasco, too, I don't believe you use them in such large quantities. How do people who live alone keep them fresh?
And why am I offended? Food is my main source of livelihood. I don't like playing with it in a manner that makes it inedible.
Besides, I am not actually offended at all. But keep on feeding...

I knew a couple with no kids who used to go through a 4 liter can of ketchup monthly. I will speak no more of it as I am a live and let live kind of guy, but that even offended me(!). ;)
People over here can be strange in their food consumption habits. You can get them in smaller quantities obviously, but I've seen more than one person who latched onto something they really liked, and would go through a LOT of it at a time. It's like the Frank's Red Hot ad, "they put that s%&* on everything."

I thought "those wacky foreigners." and proceeded to a guess using my knowledge of ice land type foreign people and came up with some strange concoction of pickled spice curry mayonnaise. :O
oh, its mustard :rofl :bhead

It threw me as well. I thought it said delikatass and figured he'd just shopped on the way home from a prostate exam....
Now, as far as mustard goes, it should be in a jar or bottle. Lusche, if you can get this stuff in Germany, it'll light up your meal and cure your cowlick.
Thanks for the idea, Lusche! Tried it today, substituting the stock with dark wheat beer. Yummy!
Splendid :old:

I'd recommend sautéing the onions in a bit of olive oil, or butter for half an hour, to 45 minutes. Onions and other aromatics need heat without too much moisture to really bring out the flavor.
You should be looking for a nice translucency to the onions, and a good glazing on the bottom of your cooking surface. Add a few halved carrots and some celery for a very nice, natural sweetness to the dish.
Google umami (sometimes spelled oomami).

Too much meat in westen diet, we are not designed for this, search Jane Goodall work, she spent 55 years watching chimpanzees in the wild ; we share over 90% of genes with this creatures; only 3% of their diet is meat, (mostly insects, larves;) the rest fruits leafs nuts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Goodall https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Jane+Goodall
