HiTech, if I may ask, given that there seems to be astronomical improvements to the environment, lighting, and textures...
Is there any chance we'll get clouds moving with the wind that cast shadows on the ground? And if so, can we pretty pretty please with a bottle of scotch on top have that as our next preview :pray?

Yes on the clouds and shadows, no on the next preview, I have done some work on the clouds, but have not released them in the alpha because I am not pleased with the results yet.

Do you have an idea of when you are going to switch? I need to budget for a new computer. It looks awesome but also means that my OLD computer is not going to handle that very well..... :salute

dont be so sure
they are moving up to a better shader system.
of course that does depend on your system...
I am using an old 4830 and have no doubt that I will be able to play with out an upgrade....I may not be able to run it at max...but I am sure I wont need to upgrade.
IIRC they said that they are upping to 512 instead of 256...and the cards will need to support the 3.0 shader...which my very old card can.

As far as im concerned let them take as long as they need. If perfection is what HiTech is aiming for let it be :salute

Probably a good idea to use some AA when posting screenshots of your next update...

Hitech, any reason you don't use anti-aliasing in your screenshots?
-
Was about to ask that lol

+1 to turning on AA when grabbing screenshots (at least ones that don't have CTRL-I fps shown). AA makes renderings look so much better.

I was not complaining about the time, just offering a guesstimate based on what I've seen so far and the length of time since the announcement. People don't need to panic about rushing out to buy a new pc. The update is still a ways away. Plenty of time to start saving pennies if need be.

I feel like the reflective opacity of this scene looks a little bit too strong. But then again I don't own my own air control tower to test it out. :D

No panic here - I just wanted new stuff. I have a problem with the MB and that was the excuse I needed

Thanks for the update, HiTech. :salute
