Back in 79-80 I was working in a nursing home while going to college. As a history fan it always opened doors to the past. One of the residents was English and was a WW1 vet would gone over the top on the first day of the Somme. One of the residents sons had flown Dauntlesses. Her other son had been killed while serving on a destroyer in the Pacific.
And I got to know the son of another resident. He'd been Navigator on the B-17 in question.

An amazing aircraft. I never once flew one in AH and didnt appreciate its magnificent design. I miss flying them with Earl and the boys.
