I need some serious help. I recently purchased a new joystick and I'm having serious trouble calibrating and setting up this &*$@#$#% thing. Every time I take off, the plane does a nose dive from 500 feet. I've used the advanced settings and stick scaling for the X and Y axis. The Z axis is no problem. The deadpan and dampening are at the very bottom. I still get not enough input for the stick to move smoothly or to even have any control of the plane. It's been about 7 years since I've had to get accustom to a new stick. I know it will be like learning to fly all over again, but this is borderline insane that I can't even fly a circuit around the field.
Can anyone post some screen shots of their stick calibrations of this stick?

Are you pushing the stick over our does it do it on its own? Pull the dead band slider about a half a button off the bottom. Damping I have about the same. The sliders I leave at default and try not to get heavy on the stick.

Well, I think I'm getting there. Instead of nose diving straight down, I'm rolling to the left and then nose diving into the dirt.
Fugi, I think it's the stick scaling. I've done the calibrations for both the X and Y axis. The deadpan and dampening shouldn't be effecting the pitch and roll that much.
I'll figure it out. It's just going to take time.

I have that stick. My scaling is default scaling and my dead zone and damping are near zero.
I calibrate once in a while for the heck of it, but it hadn't really needed it since it was new.
Is it a used stick?

Check to see where your trim is set before you take off.

Is it possible you accidentally checked the reversed axis in the "Advanced" section?
If W7, go the device section and call up the stick and run the test. Or, go to AH to the Advanced control section and watch the feed back there.
Scaling or no scaling should not be an issue with that stick.

Try not to fight the setup and configuration of the stick. Start out with just the basics. With basic settings the stick will be plenty useable.
Try another USB port, if all else fails. If you are not using an externally powered hub, it could be the USB port on the computer simply running our of power and doing a brown-out which will kill the stick input for a brief moment.

Did you calibrate it first in windows THEN in the game? Be sure you have the right stick selected in the drop down in the game too.

that's what it sounds like to me...I have hooked up sticks and they are set opposite then what you want.
although IIRC it wasn't in AH that happened...

Yes to all above. I did calibrate in Windows, I'm fighting the stick, and no, it's brand new out of the box.
I think I figured it out. When I entered in the X and Y axix, it got reversed.
Took a few sorties in the MA. Big Mistake! It will take a while to get accustomed to a new stick. Got ganged in a Hurri 1. My SA is shot because the hat switch is off to the left compared to what I'm used to.
Big learning curve again.

I think you'll like that stick. I use the rocker on the front of the throttle to zoom in/out.
Two of the other throttle handle buttons are set to look up and look down. When used in conjunction with the hat views, you get many combinations; look right/ diagonal down, look right diagonal up, etc.
Flap control is another good one to map to the throttle buttons.
