Only on the first sortie. The first time I open fire the game will freeze, the more guns I'm firing the longer the freeze is. I'm also getting micro pauses when loading nose art, when entering a large group of planes the stuttering is pretty bad until they're all loaded.

It sounds like the classical sound problem.... try adjusting volume.... I just can't remember exactly... but its a simple problem to solve....

Swoop, make sure you have not installed the NVidia sound drivers. You only need those if you expect to hear sound from an HDMI connected television.
I have reports that the installation of Ventrilo, in conjunction with the NVidia sound drivers, is causing problems like this as well.

If you update your driver, they have a gaming mode in the new drivers... makes everything sound better and works better in the background.

Yup, thats what I would do too. The old problem/fix this sounds like is back with XP you would have to turn the sound acceleration down to 3/4 from full and it would clear up the stutters. New drivers might clear it up.

The newest driver available for the SB Audigy is 5 years old and only 2 years newer than the one I'm running. Trying it but I'm not holding much confidence in it fixing the problem.

And when I install it the driver date stated in the install file is 2008. This is not a new driver. There isn't a newer driver.

Are you using the mic off your webcam as your game VOX device? If you are not, try pulling the plug on your webcam while playing the game.

Not sure if this would apply to you Swoop, but in the past I had the same issues you seem to be having, are you using any custom soundpacks? Again, not something that i'm positive would fix your problem, but worth a shot.

Can that be the problem? Have you checked the latest drivers for the TeckNet Audio microphone which seems to be your default Sound Capture Device? And further, what Bluetooth drivers are you using?

Are you downloading skins in the background? I'm having severe stuttering in the game. But thats because i'm running the game on a very old machine. When the stutters happend is ur frame rates dropping also?....check that, somehow i was running the game and there were no stutters then i had to redownload the due to a reboot i had to do and then the stutters began to start and the entire game looked different, especially the Chat font types. Skuzzy told me it might be my video card.

Nope, stock.
Can that be the problem? Have you checked the latest drivers for the TeckNet Audio microphone which seems to be your default Sound Capture Device? And further, what Bluetooth drivers are you using?
The TeckNet is the webcam, which can be unplugged. Havent tried it yet, will tonight. It's only default while the bluetooth isn't connected.....and it's only connected when I need cos the battery runs out.

The heart of the issue lies in resource allocation. Audio is always played on its own thread. All versions of Windows, since Windows XP, does this by default.
In order for a thread to cause a block to happen, something outside of the thread is happening. Such as an interrupt being serviced, or memory being allocated/deallocated, or other devices are being accessed which get a higher priority (disk I/O and input are two such devices).
Typically what happens is the memory is not being allocated for the resource in a timely manner, which stalls everything. It can also be files needing to be loaded into allocated memory. Last, but not least, Windows is not getting control of the device required to execute the thread.
There are literally hundreds of permutations. If everything is normal, this should never happen with Windows 7, or later. In order for it to happen, something has gone wrong.
Swoop, try renaming the "settings" folder, for giggles, and see if that makes it act correctly.

It's looking like disconnecting the webcam before launching AH might have solved the issue.
Will advise after a few days of further testing.

How many processes do you have running in the background?
Are there any background processes doing automatic updates?
What antivirus are you using?
Have you put aceshigh.exe into its "excluded" list?
Have you changed it from one brand to another? Even if there was a one month demo preinstalled.
Have you modified your swap file settings?

Does the NVIDIA control panel let you disable tessellation like AMD's CCC?
