Title: Pig Season!
Post by: FX1 on April 30, 2015, 01:41:26 AM
In Texas turkey season is running down and its time to shoot some pigs and go swimming. Personally i am really look forward to running around in the trucks an letting the bullets fly. This year planning on pistols only so hopefully all the winter practicing will pay off. Looking to fill the freezer with some pork...
I thought this was about Lawndarts's erotic mating dance...
LOL too funny... and i thought it was about hunting the POTW which we always welcome with open arms...

It's funny, you watch hunting shows and pigs drop like sacks of grain when hit. Depending on if it's Discovery channel or Animal Planet, you get everything from bubbas who man handle the pigs, to being given the idea that wild pigs will survive a 76mm and eat the tank crew. A team in Texas has a great dane in bullet proof armor who knocks over 600lb pigs for his master to rope up.
Or alligators. You see the guy from the Florida alligator rescue get in and swim with wild gators up to 12ft, getting a rope on them and dragging them up on the bank for hand captures. Then you see the gator hunting shows where you get the impressing the same gators will jump in the boat and eat your crew if you don't cap a round in their head with a big hook in their mouth. In other gator shows they hook them the same, pull them to the boat and tape up the mouth. Then drag them in and relocate them.
Similar with crock shows. Philippian gov. crok catchers caught a 30ft crock. Professional crock hunters in Australia have shows where they use a small harpoon or lasso the crock with a stick and head noose in open water. And two or three guys is all they have for crew.
So where does the truth lay when you see people doing this these things business as usual after 20 years of nature shows from the Steve Erwin era?
It's like the grade schoolers in Arizona when a puma was causing trouble locally and one boy was asked by the teacher "what do we do when we see the puma?" The boy said "daddy shoot the kitty!". The kids had been in a seminar where they were given caps with two big eyes on the back and taught to stand big with their arms over their heads yelling loudly "shoo kitty, shoo kitty". Pumas eat children in the USA.

Near my home, in Pearl Rvr area..there are MANY wild pigs. These have breed from Russian/European boars brought here years a go with escaped domestic pigs. Now classed as 'varmints' no license or limit imposed. Brother in law has property there.... They can be tough to put down if one is flippant about necessity to place your shot. And when dressing them they tend to have pungent smell, to put it lightly. JGroth Oh yeah, if things go bad, they WILL try to kill you.
Hic-cup....

I'm an avid hunter and those vids are a disgrace. Its guys like that that blemish all hunters ...... The fact they used the word "hunting" in one of the titles does all hunters a disservice

Wild pigs are reaching epidemic numbers around the USA. Maybe we should send a few million to Great Briton and share the destructive goodness.
So is the guy with the mini gun at least killing lots of them? They destroy a lot of farm acreage in the US and dig up ground destroying park lands and private property everywhere. For every one the wild pig control companies catch, a small family breeding unit gets away. And for such a large animal, they breed like rats.
If there was a nuke war, it would be cockroaches, rats and feral pigs that would survive. We would be on the menu.

They are in the UK. The process started in the 1600s and ended in 2012. No thanks - Americans will stick to the Constitution and keep our arms (for pigs and all sorts of game, but mostly to stop tyranny)

Those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither.
The rule in my house is at least two firearms and 5,000 rounds of ammunition for every person, regardless of age. I've already purchased two AR-15's for my one-year old son. He may or may not grow up to be a "gun" guy, but he will most definitely grow up to understand why we own them and why they are essential to liberty.

If you're gonna quote someone - you should give credit. Ben Franklin was correct
Actually, I didn't credit the quote to him because there's debate that he may have not made the quote. The quote itself is actually presumed to be one he made on behalf of the Pennsylvania Assembly, but it cannot be confirmed.
A current trend in progressive society is to claim that our Founders and other similar figures said many things that they didn't. Blindly accepting those quotes without proof undermines the arguments of those that use the quote. ;)

At least we agree on the principle (amazing)..
And, I am pleased to see a native Tennessee person actually defending the Constitution - you are quite rare
The proper way would be: someone once said "quote what you want" instead of claiming it as your own

Noted, but I wasn't claiming the quote as my own. I could have posted "e=mc^2"; doing so doesn't credit the statement to me, it simply presents it as a fact, which is all my statement was. Then again, the circles I frequent are familiar with a majority of our Founders' language and citations are rarely required, so perhaps I took that for granted.
All that stated, I was speaking to a bellwether who's been conditioned to accept a nanny-state existence, so I didn't want to complicate matters too much. Something about keeping things below an 8th-grade reading level. ;)

All comedy aside - and I appreciate it zack - You can ask your government for more control of you and your population and enjoy it as you deem fit. Not for me - not for Americans (colonists in your terms).
I am unsure how to respond to the reference to the chinese. Is a Chinese invasion of the U.S. something you wish for or simply foresee?

When the Chinese invade the US, ask them if they will supply your military, as you'll have lost your primary means of technology and defense development.
Nevermind, terrible idea. Just grab your white flags and go the France route. They'll go well with your wool coats.

Again, this is a perfectly valid topic. If you do not wish to participate in this topic then don't. Do not make the mistake of trying to make this about something it is not about.
I am not going to go back any further than this page editing posts which have no business in this thread.

This morning was interesting. We took a trip back over to the same area looking for turkeys and found a hand full of piglets. We have a youth hunt this weekend so scouting late season turkeys is key for the kids.
The massive pig kill video i have is kinda expletive.. Could be defensive to peta type none hunting groups.

LOL that's not pig hunting. This is pig hunting...
HUGE AND MASSIVE PETA WARNING. This video depicts typical pig hunting in NZ, which involves tracking and chasing down the animal with dogs, dogs that are specifically training to allow the hunter to fatally wound the pig (knife to the heart):

I have many videos of my dog Freddy. He is a pig killing German Shepard. I don't like him hunting in the spring because of the snake danger on the ranch. He is a great dog and is more lethal than any firearm I have.
