I was just awarded a residency at Brush Creek Ranch based on my Railroad Landscape Photography (http://www.nbcnewyork.com/on-air/as-seen-on/Railroad-Landscapes-Exhibition_New-York-274699641.html).
I am doing this Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1912212915/railroad-landscape-photography-new-york-city-to-br/)in order to fund a roadtrip to Brush Creek and back to NYC in order to create NEW work on the way.
It will be impossible without financial support!

Nice work, I used to ride metro north to cold spring, breakneck (flag stop), Poughkeepsie almost every weekend to go climbing/ hiking. The light and sky in the Hudson River valley is just plain magic. There is something about railroads.

You should have busted out a "woo wooo" at the end of that NBC interview Nath - "sending this out to all my peepz at Aces High..WOOWOOOO". Hahah.
Seriously though, I've followed your work even while you were absent from AH after the first few years, having found your picture folders online when searching for the famous woowoo video a number of years back. A lot of cycling and train pictures, all very interesting.
Be nice to see your work in person some day. I'll repost/link your kickstarter where I can. Have you looked at Patreon as well?

Congratulations! Not sure if you have spent time in WY but where you are headed is one my favorite places. I have family in Saratoga and we float the river fishing, dirt bike, hunt and snowmobile the area quite often. I've never been on the ranch but I have driven through it many times. What a cool opportunity. It may be a little shock if you aren't familiar with WY (culture and landscape) but with an open mind I bet you find an incredible amount of inspiration. It grabs some and they never leave, others can't wait to get home.

One thing I"m worried about ... are the dirt roads... ? Not many of those in the northeast.

Lol - yep, plenty of dirt roads. The part of the ranch I'm familiar with is a paved highway at the entrance but I'm sure its all dirt/gravel on the ranch (its a big, big ranch). Lots of dirt/gravel roads through the landscape and if you are doing railroad stuff, I would imagine you would want to explore some of these as you follow the rails to find interesting images. There's more beautiful country in the area than a guy could fully explore in a lifetime. There are certainly many 4X4 only roads available, but you can explore plenty on paved and well maintained gravel roads that any vehicle will be fine on. Its as "western" as it gets around there but there are also private G6's landing in Saratoga so it's not exactly the wild frontier anymore.

Might be interesting to do a similar feature from low flying aircraft. I see dozens of abandoned rail beds from the air everywhere I fly.
