Hi Folks,
I've been using SweetFX for quite a while now with zero problems (love it to). Just about 2 weeks ago, having not changed anything (that I know of), I logged in to play, and after about 5-10 seconds from login (in the tower), the SweetFX effect go away - it's just as if I hit the Scroll Lock key to turn it off...
I'm not sure what to do since I haven't made any changes to the game. I'm running Win7 with an AMD Radeon 7900 series card. Again, no problems prior and no changes other than the usual Windows and GPU driver updates. I've double checked that my AA settings are "none" in AH.
[edit] - Oh and I'm running SFX v1.3
Any ideas anyone? I'd love to get this this working again. Thanks!

Did you update your video drivers recently or running a tweak program like MSI Afterburner? It is possible that an updated video driver could be in conflict with SweetFX (I've had this happen with a Nvidia driver) and rolling back to the previous driver fixed it. Also, tweak programs like MSI Afterburner also causes conflict and will disable SweetFX.

Been running afterburner all along and never noticed a problem with sweetfx. Will run it in split screen and check. I'm running newest drivers on my R6900.

Thanks Ack-Ack,
My video drivers are updated fairly regularly so perhaps that is the issue - I'll check it out and report back. Thanks!

Afterburner always disables by SweetFX, which is why I don't use Afterburner anymore.

I use Afterburner mainly for the OSD (for checking out GPU stats) and for screenshots showing the SweetFx effects (since ShadowPlay can't take screenies, but I like SP for the recording). My SweetFx works just fine and I have no issues with any of it.

So weird - I rolled back my drivers, started up the game and this time, SFX engaged (everything looked great) and in about 20 seconds (sitting on the runway) it reverted (turned off).
I suppose I could try removing SFX and re-adding it completely ..

If you hit Scroll Lock, does it enable it again? Also, try pressing the Pause key to reload the shaders (you can do this while in game) and see if that helps any.

Thanks Ack - I did try that to no avail. A strange thing happened last round of trying things. I had rolled back my drivers and rebooted etc.... I went into the game and SFX stayed on for about 40 seconds, went off, and then while I was adjusting some of the ingame graphics settings, it came back on! Then off again... I thought maybe my card is freaking out but I'm not having any other issues....
I have removed SFX and re-added it and AH, but no joy there either... :(

Try using SweetFX 1.5.1 that you can download here. https://sfx.thelazy.net/downloads/

Thanks again - I tried 1.5.1 and like clockwork, around 30 seconds after the game loads, SFX is disabled (just as if I pressed the Scroll Lock key).
I may try re-installing AH next, and if possible try to roll back the video drivers even further :(

maybe you've got a program running in the background that is giving out key presses.

I thought that to but when it "turns off" I can't turn it back on.

I've tried running it with AB enabled and disabled. Doesn't seem to make a diff. Can't seem to get split screen running even with a profile I had set up in split screen that had worked in the past. I have changed vid drivers in the not to distant past. I'm running what was it v1.3? Not the most recent version of SFX.
Will mess with it some more if I get a chance tonight.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!
Turns out that I had a program (I had forgotten about) that got installed with my last driver update called "Raptr"... supposedly it optimizes the games on your PC for you. So I would log in to the game, and just about 30 seconds later it's "optimizer" would kick in and wipe out SFX. Uninstalling it took care of the problem, I can see again! :aok
Thanks for the support Akak!!

Because I have none whatsoever experience of SweetFX, I've read this thread for learning. Nice that you got it sorted out!
To anyone whom it may concern, always perform a "custom" installation for any software, be it programs or drivers. Even if you won't change any of the presets, you'd know what will be installed and where. And you'd also be able to uncheck extras like "Raptr".

Yaknow that must may be what happened to me too. I usually do a custom install of catalyst drivers every time. An update or so back I'd swapped my DVI cable for an HDMI. When I did, it resized my display smaller and I couldn't change it to fit my monitor properly. Drove me nuts for a couple of hours. I knew there was a setting somewhere but I couldn't remember where it was. I googled it and found I had to change the overscan setting. That's in CCC that I never install. So--I installed it, changed the setting, fixed the problem so things display right and promptly removed CCC again. The setting stuck. No problem.
Last update I just did a full install knowing I was gonna have to likely install CCC in order to resize the display again---which happened so I did. It also installed that Raptr proggie. So yeah they're both getting toasted at my earliest opportunity. Bastiges and their bloatware.

Right on Drano - I was kicking myself because I'm generally pretty good about not installing the bloatware that comes with things, it must have just been that ONE time I was lazy or clicking through things.... I ended up deleting anything that could affect my graphics, including a couple video capture programs that I'll now have to re-install blah blah .....
Anyway - yes lesson re-learned Bizman :rock
See you guys in the skies!

Talking about lesson re-learned, I just got a reminder of not to chase those tiny soil flies hovering over the screen if there's a full wine glass in front of the keyboard: Now I need a new keyboard and some more wine! :bhead

Glad you got things up and running Shad. SweetFX really does make the game look better, and it will look even better with the new update.

An update on sweetfx? I keep thinking of giving sweetfx a go.

There is an update to SweetFX, there is a beta 2.0 version out but I was speaking of the upcoming update to AH.

Got around to nuking Raptr but it didn't make a diff. Not seeing any effects at all. Uninstalled the original and went to the stand alone version 1.51. No change. Tried loading a config with everything turned on so it'd be really obvious. nada. I know it worked before. Running the 14.12 cats. Maybe that did something to break it?
-
Got it working. No idea what I did but it's back. <shrug> Guessing a total removal of everything SFX and re-installing. I knew it used to work!
Oh and I AM using Afterburner so it ain't that.

Glad to hear it Drano! :aok
