I officially announce that knights are even worse than rooks at taking bases.
Strapped in my mossie. A look to the right at the empty starboard seat made me realize that my navigator has passed out drunk again somewhere. OK, short ride to a bish base, I dont need a navigator for that. Flew over to the bish base, Killed a couple of niks, then remembered I had bombs in the belly, so I bombed the already damaged VH, saved the other bomb and circled the base waiting for someone to spawn so I can bomb-vulch him.
A bunch of knits arrived and de-acked the place. I encouraged them from above (like hell I am going below 7k over a large field...). No bish. Dumped my bomb on something (playing since 2001 and I still don't know what all the structures are...) and started to strafe the control tower, an old habit of mine.
No bish.
I decided to save some fuel by waiting on their runway, so I enter the pattern and make a perfect landing. While I am down here, I may as well tour the place... pick up some souvenirs and such.
No bish.
OK, the control tower is right over there, I'll go knock see if someone is in. I parked in front of the tower and started knocking:

Nobody home?
But hush! what is that buzz? a brave bish defender has taken off in... in... a Storch?!
I wave to him as he passes 10 meters over me and the cheeky bastage shot me with his rear gun!

Luckily, his rifle-caliber gun cannot penetrate my plywood armor. I decide to accept the challenge and have a gears-down dogfight with him. Unfortunately, he was promptly shot down by another knit that cheated and had his gears up.
Acks started to pop back up. The downed Storch pilot decided to trade his flying 7.62 mm gun for a stationary 88mm artillery and wins the HO.
<S> to kent521 for supplying some unorthodox action.
The base was not captured by the knits despite being down and completely undefended for more than 30 minutes.

HEHEHEHE I LOVE IT!

You know its funny, it took me a long time to realize that the control tower was actually a place on the field and not just a screen, same with the indestructable.

Knits are actually fantastic at taking bases. We can take any base we choose whenever we choose. If we didn't take a base its because we didn't choose to take it. We have our reasons. They are top secret reasons. So secretive that no Knight is allowed to know them all but rest assured that every time a war is "won", by any chess piece, its because the Knights decided it would be won and who would win it. Its no easy task to keep up the appearance of being a bunch of unorganized, furballing, gv spawn fighting, A.D.D. riddled goof offs while we go about completing our actual objectives.
I may have said too much...there's an upside down black Storch circling outside :noid

Yet another example of what the wooden wonder is capable of. :)

This!
Knights are the most awesome and highly skilled players in the game! We have risen above such frivolous things like "Taking bases" and "Winning the War". Some times we will humor your Rooks and Bish by taking a base, or even winning a war, but we are only humoring you as we are incredibly bored at the time. :D

This is true
I often turn up to a town in an m3 or goon
with supplies of beer and pizza...
it's more fun having a party than getting caught up in the Comercial world of real estate

I prefer to sit at 12K and feed on the chow line of La7/Spit16/K4/Niki/51D/47M with a Temp dessert bar that streams in from the next base thinking we are all on the deck working the town. Mossi is a great bouncer at the door of a party.
Sorry my Bish brethren let you starve.

it's always the same every month. we knights fight the rooks at the beginning of the month just for the fun of it. we like to shoot down astronauts. then at the end of the month we get lazy and we want easy kills so we only fight the bishops then.
bases that are taken are usually done by those 3 guys who always switch to even the sides.

Most of my aerial kills are of knits, I'm too lazy to chase rooks into the mesosphere.

Give me 6 hours and 6 players and i will dominate a map

I once deacked a large Bish field and town with a storch, only to have Latrobe and his band of merry misfits show up in wingless C-47's and try to resupp it. one of them accidently brought troops and we ended up capturing it. man did the Knights give us hell for that one ! I think Latrobe is still grounded :rofl

I'm no longer in charge of loading up the C47s after that mix up. :o

So secretive that no Knight is allowed to know them all
And if any Knight does learn all the rules, the rules automatically change. :old:
Except for the rule about not talking about the rules . . . . uh oh, I think I hear a Storch motor :noid

Night before last within a 4 hour period we "THE KNIGHTS" has taken 8 bases, then I took two more bases by myself. Then last night when I logged on I seen that not only did we still have those 10 bases but had a couple more. So you see gentlemen, the Knights we not only Can, but DO take bases, we just wait until you Nooks and Bits get to Happy with Juice that you see more then one screen when you only have just one...lol
We wait until you get to full of yourselves and over confident than we strike.. hehehehehe!
(Ohh wait, did I just give away a secret..lol) My bad!
Draggon Out: :bolt:

Awhile back I posted my displeasure with The Bish, and how they refused to work together (save for a few squads). And that I had flown with the Nits for a few days and liked how they played. Many months later this still holds true. The team work and cooperation of the Knights is unmatched by either of the other 2 sides. And the stereotype I tried to disprove about them is true. The Knights tend to be "furballers". It's rare to even see somebody say "lets go take this base". But when somebody does, then we do it. The majority of the Knights would rather furball for hours on end. They would rather "defend" a field against incredible odds. It's pretty much true they have no real desire to take bases, unless it's going to promote a good fight, or piss off the Bish.

As long as we knights never deack the base we are fighting over, the red guys will keep upping.
As soon as one of us goofs and deacks. First, the red guys stop upping, then we kill the field out of boredom. Then we disappear right when we could capture the field. One moment there was a horde of green guys. Then just as you see the flag go white and you yell it on range. No one is there. And the red guys are boiling off the field like a fire ant mound you just stepped on.
The above has been a normal prime time night with the knights for almost 2 years now. Lately we have been capturing fields because of really low numbers nights in the arena. Now the flag goes white and the red guys go fight the bish or rooks while a few knights straggle back and drop some troops. If the troop drop gets fowled up which knights are masters at, the red guys might show up again.
The absolute worst case is if the knights decide they can take that field with tanks because everything is already down. Those are the nights most of the knight air force is made up of a small number of furballers defending one field, and the rest no where to be found. Unless you look for an obvious spawn battle that ain't going well for the knights due to no air support. Once a knight trades his prop for a drive shaft. That's it for the night. This has been another trend with the knights for about 2 years.
The best thing about knights if you enjoy air combat, if the weenies will come down and fight, they don't survive very long. Everything else, ADHD keystone cops on steroids. Makes Latrobes fun missions look strategically inspired genius.

that reminds me of when vdallas sent a message to waystin2 about base we had just taken. vdallas announce that we were "not gonna hold the base for long". not only did we kept it but took 3 more bases. oh the pigs do like to make trouble :).
