When I chat with my family on phone their usually..scratch that..always on cell phone, but my reception will be garbled at points in the conversation.
They hear me fine...
Is it just their lack of talking into phone properly, ie:not near enough....or is it me??

We keep a barebones VOIP line (standard phone service through cox cable) specifically for phone calls that have to be clear. Anything overseas, any important financial calls, etc. because our cellphones can be counted on to drop the connection or become garbled at some point, either the other end not hearing us well or us not hearing the other person well. The VOIP calls are almost always clear when calling another landline or VOIP line.

it all depends on how crappy your phone is.

Phone reception is lousy compared to when we were kids.
