Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info on this skin. It is based on this Massimo Tessitori profile (http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il2-camo/il-2m/il2m-bp-fl-al-3view-prof-100of210shap.jpg) which is in turn based on a photograph from the private collection of Russian historian Vitaliy Timoshenko. Mr Timoshenko kindly agreed to let me see the photo so I could do the skin.

This Il-2 was the aircraft of Major Ivan Panin in winter 1944 and at the time was painted in a temporary part-white camouflage scheme. From August 1942 Panin was CO of the 1st Squadron of the 210th Attack Aviation Regiment. He flew over 113 combat sorties destroying many tanks, vehicles, barges and depots and in February 1944 was awarded Hero of the Soviet Union. In April of that year he was killed in a mid air collision with another Il-2 after receiving hits from AA fire.

He must live south of Hokkaido. When I lived in Wakkanai all the dogs were some varying size of white curled tail husky. The puppy reminds me of all the granny's at the fish market. Bet the pup even barks in japanese.

Have you considered doing the none winter version of that same skin as a two fer? Would be kind of neat.

Great skin, and history.

Is it just me or is the view in the IL-2 beyond horrible. I cannot adjust much out the side windows. And having been in the AH universe for a few years now I believe I know how.

Thanks guys, glad you like it.

The view out of the Il-2 cockpit is bad because of all the armour plate that surrounds the pilot. I seem to recall the AH Il-2 lost its external view a while back which may be why we don't see so many of them now.

I think a non-winter version of this skin would be a bit dull with just the number "100" and red stars as markings. There are more interesting ones with stripes and slogans etc. still to be done but not for a while.
