Title: Hanger hardness frame 2?
Post by: flatiron1 on May 16, 2015, 08:45:18 AM
Looks like the hardness mult was at 6 vs 1. Was that intentional? Don't see many hangers destroyed in the logs.

We were very disappointed in our bombing results on VH hangers last night after a reasonably good line up and run-in.  Did you see a 6 in the arena settings?

Was a surprise to me.  I never considered looking at that and I know better...

 :bhead

I failed my squad and failed my CiC last night because I missed that detail.  We could have dropped those hangers.  I just didn't assign enough ord to each hanger.

It was still a fun attack on A114 last night.  It was well defended.  And I have to give props to 68th Lightning Lancers.  They had low numbers and managed to engage the Spitfires on the way to target and get that fight below the bombers giving us enough time to get to target and get ord off.

The other squads that showed up in P40s, P39s, and P38s kicked the snot out of us.  That last 30 to 45 seconds to the field were one of the hardest attacks I can recall.

Good times!

Gooooooooooood tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimes!!!

:salute to the 68th!  I was impressed by that escort.  Well done!

You make a good point Slip.  Noted for future FSO's.

Diligence is essential for good planning.

I would think if the hanger hardness is going to be monkeyed around with for FSO that it should be mentioned in the objectives just as altitude restrictions and ack settings are.

I looked at the arena settings in the FSO write up on this event and hardness wasn't addressed.

It would make a huge difference in mission planning.

Just my .02 worth...

The hanger hardness should of not been changed they were the same settings as last week only thing that changed was time of lift off and targets nothing else should of been touched.

Could this be the problem? In the main arena the hangars are set at 1.0

Flatiron, when did you grab that screenshot?
If you got it today after 9am pacific/noon Eastern then the arena is currently set up for the scenario, which has hardness changed.

He checked the hardness settings last night just after our run on the target.   I was dead perfect on speed and drop, I had a bomber hanger, but alas I only had 1 bird left.

I had salvo 4 and ........ nothing.

Maybe the first frame the settings were 6 as well.... I know I never thought to look at them, heck never do actually.

If it's 6, then it's 6.   That's fine, but if it is.   I feel it should have been listed in the write-up.

This is no big deal.... Nobody's perfect.

It's all good Mols, no harm no foul.

We all know the CM's do their best and things like this are gonna happen every now and then.

No worries Molsman.

I simply should have checked it.  If anything, I learned something to add to my checklist.

I am just glad we have FSO and am honored to fly in this month's FSO considering what it means to you.  I was made aware of your family history on this month's FSO.  Much respect!

My grandfather on my dad's side was a Navy SeaBee in the Pacific.  His last action was launching from Iwo Jima (which he fought on) in a B25 in the top gun doing straffing runs over Japan.  He NEVER flew or went to a beach the rest of his life after that experience.  His experiences fighting along side Marines led to a family tradition of US Marine Corps service (my dad, me, and my two brothers as well as my oldest son is on track for the Naval Academy to fly helicopters for the Marines).
