Title: Burning Hangars
Post by: earl1937 on May 21, 2015, 02:34:51 PM
:airplane: I would like the practice of players "hiding" in a burning hangar stopped! It hurts the "sprit" of the game, but I am seeing this more and more!

How does it "hurt the 'spirit' of the game" and what advantage do they get? Just curious...

Wish: Make fire from buildings and structures act like kill shooter to friend and foe inside of some pre determined perimeter.

Example: In the real world, the inside of a burning hanger with a 50ft high blaze would probably be around 1200-2500 F.

I suppose one then could argue the captain of any CV when the candle gets lit becomes a crispy critter. Real burning CV did have problems launching and landing aircraft I seem to remember.

+1 even if a vehicle didn't cook, anyone inside would most definitely suffocate

Good point, but I am still trying to understand the advantage a player is getting.

You are then forced to spawn on runway if spawn hangar is burning.

Spotting and targeting a GV hiding in the fire of a burning hanger, no matter which hanger makes it very difficult to kill. On top of it there is the "realism" card some mention of it either frying, or the crew not having air to breath as being un-realistic.

It is just another way to "game the game" and hide a GV on say a V base and kill the troops as they run. To me, it's like the old church we had in the old towns. "Make an extra pass on the church to be sure it's down!" was the cry before troops ran. Now its check the burning hangers for GVs..... seeing as it seems nobody can take a field with out knocking down everything on it.

:airplane: Simple! They wait until you drop or turn troops loose from M3, then run out and kill them! That defeats the "sprit" of the game in my mind!
Once that hangar is "down", it shouldn't be used for anything else, until it re spawns!

Then wouldn't it be the same gripe about gvs squatting in the indestructable?  :headscratch:

Agreed.

Further I would prefer to see smoke rather than flames. Also they seem to go from burning to repaired somewhat quickly, so could have a period as simple " under construction"  without smoke or flame before coming active.

What about a hangar filled with heavy smoke, which happens IRL when a whole hangar is burning...
Noone could see anything by standing inside it with this.

I will stop hiding in burning hangars in same day, when they stop showing these RangeRover size red letters over my gv to the enemy planes.

This thread puzzles me, defending a vbase or a port by ambushing seems like a normal tactic when the hangars are down, it seems much more gamey that there is an endless supply of new vehicles when the hangars are up, this is why its very hard to capture a v base with only GVs if it is being defended.

It can be frustrating to make the long drive in from the spawn only to get whacked with your goal in sight but I consider that a feature not a bug.

For the dedender once the hangers are down the game is more realistic as now it's a one life event for him.

If we could get the numbers, one life snapshots for GVs would be the best GV action possible.

If you build it, they will come....
