Don't know if anyone follows the yachting races but Bermuda was chosen for the 2017 America's Cup location.
Some of the teams have already moved here, including Oracle (Team USA) and Artemis and can be seen regularly out on the Great Sound.
Yesterday we went out in the new boat and guess who was out sparring?

I was driving so I had to rely on two others who were taking video and pictures. Kicking myself for not bringing my good camera.
Still, plenty of opportunity to get some shots.
Really impressive to see these things fly across the water in real life.

Are they using sailboats this time or extreme winged hydrofoils, or something else entirely?

Rich guys, carbon fibre and lawyers.
(Sorry. Good to say nothing if I've nothing good to say...)

I don't know about this move to Bermuda, have they proven they can grow a proper wet surface to play on? It'd be one thing if they were racing on grass, Bermuda sod is highly regarded, but they're playing on water, and I hear their water is no better than Cuba's.

the only time when America is referred to as a continent and not a country.

I miss the 12 meter boats.

Indy should go back to these,

Probably a better race than what I've seen so far this year.

The J Class Boats will be racing again:

Well, it isn't just water you need to be concerned about....the race here will be staged in the Great Sound. It is a yacht racer and spectator's wet dream:

Having nice water is good too though.

Very cool Curval.....looking at those twin outboards on your boat, I think you could have taken him. Then again given that they can go 3 times the speed of the prevailing wind (ie 15 knot wind they can go 45 knots) maybe not lol
Those boats are a sight to see. Love their lines. They look like they are going fast even when sitting still.
Thanks for posting, hope you get more vids

lol
They are bad boys for sure but even the chase boats have a hard time keeping up with the AC boats.
When we came back to the dock there was a guy who was sailing a "Moth"....basically a tiny one man version of the AC boats. I will try and get some video of him....gotta get me one. Looks like way too much fun.

That is a World Series event, not the actual America's Cup.

They come here in October as part of that:

In fact, we have 10 rooms at our hotel reserved for the Japanese Team.
This is the real deal though in 2017 (The 35th America's Cup):
