Which plane would you want to fly if you could get just one hour in it. (Assume you magically get the required training.)
-
growing up never flew or even been in a plane....for my 40th I went and flew a super decathlon........
it was very easy to fly...all the things in AH I did..only difference was the rudder peddles were much harder to push.....well until my body experienced vertigo!!!!!! :rofl :rofl
but if I could fly any WW2 it would definitely be the P40 from the Flying Tigers!
-
It's a tough call because it's not my favorite aircraft in the game, but I'd have to try a Spit because of its reputation as a wonderfully fun bird to fly.
-
P38 with the sr71 and a10 very close seconds.

spit would be a blast to fly!!!
P38 with the sr71 and a10 very close seconds.
I have no desire to fly any jet engine plane...even though the A10 is a sick plane....would much rather experience the WW2 birds....
P38 would be fun...
hell you guys that get to fly in the real world.... you dont know how lucky you are....the one thing I am envious of.... :old:
-
The P39.
Just kidding! No I haven't been taking drugs.
I would fly a 109G2.
I couldn't resist saying my second choice would be a 262.

I'll fly either a f4u, jug or a 190.

109, followed by a spit and 51 :)

The decent of the lunar module of Apollo 11.
Without a time machine, I would have to say more stick time in the T6 (that was fun times).

Is it armed and I get to shoot at a target? A-10 please. I would very much like to BRRRRT something.
If not, I'd go back to something from the war. I'd have such a tough time choosing, and it'd depend on the day. Today, 190D9. Tomorrow could be P47D or Spit.

Tough choices indeed. For me it would probably about wringing the plane out in low altitude aerobatics, so jets/rockets would be out unless it was about pure acceleration/speed. Top contenders for the aerobatics side of it would be Fokker Dr1, Bf109 (F or earlier model), FW190A. If it was about acceleration/speed Me163, F-22 (or whatever is the highest thrust/weight modern jet) perhaps even x-44 manta. In the end I think the Dr1 would probably win.
Not sure why anyone would want to blow an hour in a space shuttle or SR-71 those seem kinda boring honestly.
-
I'd have a hard time narrowing it down between about 25 or 30 birds, but I still think I wind up here:

Tough one. But as I'm actually planning to get the money together to fly a Spitfire one day. I'll leave that to one side. The F4u is up there but on the basis that only a miracle would grant me the opportunity to fly one it has to be a jet. The F16....or F18 or F15. I just can't decide. Then there's the EE Lightning or F22 or .......

I had the pleasure of flying in teh front seat of an OV10B while in the Marine Corps, was a blast
(http://www.air-and-space.com/20051021%20Edwards/DSC_4277%20OV-10B%20N338RC%20BuNo%20158301%20right%20front%20m.jpg)
That thing was a BLAST... And I have a flight in a WW2 T6 trainer coming up.. cant wait for that..

Best part is I get to take the controls, 30 min flight and approx 10 mins of flying it myself... I promise not to LawnDart it so lets get that out of the way.

Mirage IIIc would be a close second.
There are many that could be close 3rd.

I'll take Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal's A380 for an hour complete with his harem. Seriously, the most fun planes to fly for an hour as a pilot are the planes most people can take for a ride regularly with only a modest investment in time and money.
-
My cessna 150...
It has been on service since october and the prop is in Germany for scheduled overhaul. I want to fly now... Even if only for an hour :bhead

p38 only because the torque effects of the others would be way too frightening to constantly adjust for..

Concorde, seconded.
My father had the rare opportunity to get to be a passenger on the concord. He flew across the United States and it took him about 2:30 hours.
He said the plane felt like it reached the top of the atmosphere and felt like he was almost in space.
It was obviously to expensive too fuel.
My plane of choice would be an F22. Ive always wondered what it would be like to take a flight in a jet.
Would love to fly a extra 300 aswell for the stunts.
In WW2 Id go with a F4U, p47, or p51. Tough choices haha

The Concorde never flew across the U.S. When over the continental U.S., it had to maintain subsonic speeds. It flew into New York and Washington D.C.

Concorde flew charters across the U.S. (check this page (http://www.concordesst.com/history/destinations.html), section 'charter destinations'). It flew indeed subsonic above land, but it is possible that some of the special flights were supersonic.

I'll have to talk to him about it. I thought it was cross country but I guess I'm not 100% sure. I'll get more info about it later.
