Title: Why 2950 RPMs on the P-38?
Post by: Randy1 on June 23, 2015, 12:10:09 PM

Used keyboard for full power(shift +).

Why not the full 3000 rated RPMs?

The point of the needle isn't set to center. In this example the leading edge of the needle indicates the RPM. It's just a graphic, it doesn't affect performance.

I find it hard to believe HTC uses the leading edge as the pointer.  Very bizarre.

Can you believe that it was an unintentional error?

Please for the love of God don't say "rpms" rotation per minute. It's not plural as it's not multiple minutes. It's only one. :)

My inner technician is coming out.

2 engines, two gauges, each with its oown RPM = RPMs.

My inner smartass is coming out.

Doesn't matter how many engines.

'In this case it should have been RPM's albeit grammatically poor at best.  Thanks for adding to the thread.

PMS is something entirely different even though it is cyclic as well.

I thought they tried to get PMS changed to BPD so they could issue Prozac and make everyone feel good.

Rspm. My god now we can all talk about rpm's... Why? Because it is rpm's... Why is it rpm's? Because we are talking about revolutions per min. Or otherwise known by every person who has ever worked on a motor ever in his life as RPM's. Take the silver spoon out your mouth and place it.... Well, lets just see what you use it for.. Next you'll be redefining how we use the word TRM's..
