It gets even better. Apparently his mother is pushing for stricter legislation of fireworks. Because that ABSOLUTELY would have made a difference in this case.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Legislation = a sticker saying not to use fireworks on top of head while intoxicated

Its illegal to use fireworks that leave the ground, like bottle rockets and mortars, but everyone just drives up the road a bit to the indian reservation and stocks up on some really huge stuff.  Some of the stuff sold there is pretty much the same stuff the pros use, on a slightly smaller scale.  I think the largest shells they sell are 5-inch diameter, for example.

In a neighborhood near my house (ahem), they had about 20 mortar shells about 2 inch diameter.  Thing is, they just set them out in the open on the sidewalk while launching them from a cardboard tube maybe 30 ft away.  Any malfunction would have probably resulted in the whole lot going up since they were all out in the open with no protection from stray sparks or malfunctions or low altitude early bursts, or even one of the "legal" fountains tipping over and shooting over there by accident.

One fountain did tip over, fortunately it merely shot towards a group of 6 small children and an adult intercepted it and kicked it back into the street, and it burned out before it wandered towards the unused stuff.

My kids are small so I stuck with those little snap pop things, some colored sparklers that kind of sucked, some spinners, some really annoying screaming fountains, and some smallish regular fountains.  They though they were great and it was all fun until some older neighbor kids started playing with charcoal lighter fluid.  They'd soak a tennis ball in the stuff, light it off, and kick it around, right next to everyone watching and next to the pile of unused fireworks.  That sort of ended the fun part of my night since from that point on I had to keep my kids within arms reach and stay in a spot with a short clear path to a protected area in case stupidly dangerous played out badly.  They used up 2 quart-sized bottles of lighter fluid.  I thought for sure one kid was going to get burned.  He soaked the front tire of his bicycle in lighter fluid then drove thru a puddle of flaming lighter fluid.  It was spattering up at him like you'd expect, and he got a little panicky and drove faster, which splattered it even higher...  It burned out just before his pants caught fire, so of course he went back and did it again.

Funny thing about the kids with the lighter fluid... Their dad is a firefighter and there are 12 kids in the family.  I guess that stuff is ok when you've got a handful of spare kids around?  Dad was on duty of course so only their Mom was around.  And she didn't say anything so I just kept my kids ready to run for cover and my bucket of water close.

I'm in Omaha Nebraska on vacation,  I got lost trying to find my hotel.   got stuck in one of the 1 way this way,  but can't make a right deals.   went around a block trying to figure out how to go right.   second turn around the block,  I saw a motorcycle or two had rear ended a car.

saw a body part a few feet away from a body.   I don't know and really don't  want to know how many bikes or bodies with missing parts were on  the ground.

It had been raining hard for over 2 hours, saw body or bodies in tshirts and shorts no helmets.   a young girl running around trying to get help as police arrive.

You guys think it's funny and call it whatever awards.

I call it inexperienced people trying to impress.   so go ahead and laugh,  after all you guys have never done stupid things.

After 40 years as an EMT responding to holiday accidents that involve Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles.  The Car and Truck victims we called: patients, the Motorcycles riders we call them: Donors.

As for your outrage over the majority of readers of this posting, come on, stupid is always funny.

Along with witnessing  what I'm assuming had a very negative affect on you,  but which was it, one or two bikes, and was it one or two bodies.
Oh, and I got to say this, I lived and worked in Omaha one summer, know it well.  A vacation in Omaha Nebraska?  Really?

Can we at least agree that alcohol and explosives don't mix well?

He doesn't have a solid bike/body count because he was driving drunk looking for hookers and blow, after filling his trunk with illegal fireworks   :x

you never went on vacation to visit relatives?   my daughter and husband just relocated here,  he's in the air force.

As for the accident,  it wasn't traumatic for me.   felt bad for whoever got hurt but that's about it.   Had a 2 or 3 second view of it,  just as I was turning the corner.

That people die in stupid accidents is a good thing, and not only for the gene pool. It also means that we still live in a free country. Unfortunately there are forces trying to change that.

If dead people vote, then yes... That's a serious problem (and not unprecedented).

I was delivering a patient to the ED a few weeks ago, as I was leaving a guy came up to my ambulance, he is covered in large supperating sores, he's probably 19 years old and in a complete mess. All his fingertips were bloody and wrapped in surgical tape, he was obviously fecally incontinent. Apparently he had just been discharged from another nearby hospital. Got transported home at public expense, and immediately went out to fuel his heroine habit.
He got a fix but when he couldn't find a needle he opened a sharps bin and found himself a pre used one, which he had patently had a horrible reaction to. Another example of human detritus desperately attempting to remove themselves from the gene pool. You can either laugh at their rank stupidity or despair, because in most cases they have exhausted every attempt to help them.
Same for OD'ing drug users that get violent and abusive with us for giving them Narcan to save their stupid lives. :old:
