It's the Greek state that is over its head in debt, not the individual citizen. How much they work is irrelevant if they don't pay taxes.

I think that I would normally agree with you. In this case, however, I’ve come to the conclusion that just about everyone in Europe has a huge dog in this fight and that most of what you see and read has to be viewed in this light.
And yea, it is a shame that the Violations-O-Matic comes out too frequently on current event issues, but it is what it is. (I once posted that I thought a topic had been unnecessarily shut down only to have that post shut down for some violation that says you can not complain about violations.... :huh)

Yeah yeah all real interesting stuff but what I'm curious about is their standing relative to EU charter. Are they technically eligible for exclusion or are they at the threshold? This ain't the first time the numbers forced an exit. Just curious about how much elasticity they're going to tolerate.

Membership in the EU is not dependent on membership in the Euro common currency (Eurozone). There are EU members that do not use the Euro as their currency.
