Title: Average Time Online Per Sitting
Post by: DubiousKB on July 13, 2015, 11:03:02 AM
I was just curious how much time each of you actually spend in a sitting. What do you do when you log in, what is your priority?

Is it:

A: Up a fighter to get into action at a busy location
B: Look at the map to see where action is required (defence or helping a base take)
C: Watch country channel to see if others require assistance (gv supplies, troops, field supplies)
D: Up a bomber and walk away from computer (i do this only when i'm lone wolfing it.. {or the garden needs weeding   :D})
E: Hook up with squadmates

I'm not sure about the rest of you  (everyone plays there way, it's your money), but for me I have the most fun and immersion when I'm sitting on the runway with my engine off and their are numerous other pilots and aircraft of the same type and loadout sitting beside me ready to go. There is just something about lifting off together and lumbering towards an objective with friendlies..

Thanks to guys/squads who promote this type of gameplay; 49th (even though they drive across country to howitzer the heck out of HQ's), the FreeBirds, because Bob & Crabby.  :salute, Heck even Jayro's strike missions are fun because it's a group! Even though Jayro keeps taking an aircraft with clearly broken wings!  :devil

At any rate, to those who have flown with me, saved my hide by giving me a check 6, cleared my 6, or watched me scream as I lawndart into the ground, Thanks for making this game fun....

Oh and just a tip to those on country channel, ALL CAPS IS REALLY ANNOYING TO LOOK AT ON COUNTRY CHANNEL... *COUGH* RODBUSTR *COUGH*   :neener:  :police:

I don't get to play very much anymore. When I do log on, I look for the biggest dar on the map roll my favourite plane for the situation and shoot down as many as I can. Bombing is too boring and time consuming, I dislike tanks. I will jabbo at times for fun. I just like the air combat aspect. Although I do like how there are other styles and game plays for other players all in the same arena

All the ones you have listed.

E, then B or A, sometimes F

F: Look at the roster to see if there's acquaintances online in the other two chess pieces to send a PM

I immediately look at the country status and see who has the most bases and/or players between the Bishop and Rooks.  Then look for the biggest red dar on the side that wins the comparison and go after them with guns blazing! :aok

Probably this order

E, A, B, sometimes C, and sort of D (except I AFK almost anything on climb out... an old Rook tendancy  ;) )

A: Up a fighter to get into action at a busy location

...with the addition that I prefer not to go to the biggest DAR bars if there are smaller fights somewhere else.

I like to defend... So I will look at the map...try and ascertain which way the mob is moving and choose a side accordingly.... Or furball... My average time online has had a dramatic decrease but before I got sad on it I would usually log 4-5 hours per night and at least 5 days per week.

E, based on what they're up to, usually A/B.

If I find myself alone, A if it's available, if there's no good red bardar, I go with

F) Go looking for bombers at alt attacking strats/porking fronts.

If A isn't available, F usually is.  Sometimes even if there's a good furball going, if I see that it looks like there's buffs likely working strats, I will go after them instead.

If the game is target rich, I can be up to the above for 3-4 hours at a crack.  If it's not, 1 sortie and log if I don't see the situation likely to improve.

Wiley.

This is what I was wondering... when i first got addicted (insert "got the game"), i was online as soon as I got home from work until the Mrs was kissing me goodnight. I've found myself only logging a couple hours 2-3 per night and sometimes I'm left wanting. Wanting that organized mission (in whatever form) to get going.

Seems like i just need more friends or to take the plunge into a squad. I started with the "Mighty 8th" which was alot of good times, but before I knew it, our numbers disappeared!!!  POTW, FBs, & 49th always seem to have fun; Crabby I've never seen the troops dropped to confuse the field ack before, nice touch in your goon of doom!

Waystin is being modest. There are nights he picks fights just to get all the fighter weenies from one country to up and slug it out with POTW. At least we have unlimited lives and planes.

Not that is has ever changed, but with very limited flying time I look for the biggest red dar bar and jump in as dying in a fight is much more satisfying then anything else for me

Funny to see some of these replies, as I am in the same situation. But, whenever I used to log on, the first thing I would do is search the map, particularly looking for small, consistent fights. If there weren't any fights that looked interesting to me, I would check to see if there was a base that was getting snuck out from under us by GVs and bust them up. My fall back plan if nothing interested me was to GV or bomb. Only problem is, I didn't get to tank much under the new system, so I never really got used to it. Now I'm stuck with nothing but unreliable satellite Internet and no computer. :(

Online time is limited these days, so almost never D...

My favorite thing is bomber hunting over busy friendly bases in my trusty P-47M.  I climb to 18K, make a few passes over the field looking for bombers (dispatch them if found), then I start heading down looking for a fight.  Frequently I scare a few run-90's and wee, wee, wee all the way home 51's back to their bases in the process (that alone has it's rewards), then I die trying to turn fight a spit on the deck...  Rinse and repeat...

Flying with the squaddies no matter what we are doing pegs the fun meter.

^^^This

Being in a squad makes the game what it is...

I start by looking for furballs...if I cant stir up a furball I will start hunting for gvs to bomb...if air cover messes up my bomb****ing...I'll bring a fighter back until I create a furball or until they get tired of being killed (I never get tired of dying if that's what transpires)...Ill continue the air attack on the gvs until I grow tired of it and up a tank to die in....

Killed a Tiger in a F8 the other day with 2 rockets to the side  :rock

I don't really like playing the game unless I can sit down for about 4 hours...

I log in to my squad channel and see who is on.  While I listen to the chatter in the background I am checking the map for who is winning and where the large dar furballs are.  Dependent of the chatter and mood of the channel and country I will:
Look for bases to attack or defend which are NOT in large dar areas.  Why go where people already are, be suprising!
Check map topography for missions which will help the country in some strategic way. (Check bmbr clearances & GV roads)
Ask if anyone on channel is up for Round Robins. (A very FUN way to play the game!!! Ask a 49er for details)
POST MISSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Most people just want competent coordination.  Post one only if u know what your doing,
or no one will ever join you again.  It's like you get blacklisted for being ignorant.

The 49th FG is back to the Knights until Halloween and we run missions all the time!  Please, fell free to join us.  If we're not already running a mission like the same aircraft lineups you mentioned; ask us to and we will.  Usually, every mission we run in aircraft are started that way.  Round Robins are also something you would greatly ENJOY!!!  I play 7 days a week for at least 5 hours a day and shockingly still have a girlfriend and sex-life.  I would suggest you join a squad though, or at least find one to hang out with.  The 49th, when not functioning together, are usually in different tactical sets of 3 to 6 people.  Meaning, some will be winged up dog fighting, some will be bombing, some will be GVing, and some will inevitably be on a road trip deep behind enemy lines sending postcards from their strats.  We do to much to write here, you should definitely check us out again if you have been found wanting.  That goes for anyone else who reads this as well.  We usually have 2 or more people online from 7am to 3 am, (yes that's 20 hours a day).

Merlin does have a job too even though he wont admit it

My hours are limited as of late due to work being short staffed and me working a ton of doubles.

When im not super busy I get on about 7am till 930-10am 5 days a week and on my "weekend" i log about 5 hours each day.

I always look at vox then map and find a fight weather its furball, base take, defence or anything really since im on during the slow hours. And as merlin said round robins are the best part of the game IMO. Everyone get the opportunity to fly their prefered ride and prefered mission type.

B, C, then roll a GV

I am usually online 1-1.5 hours, then I log off.
If I log on late in the evening I may go 2 hours.
GV'ing makes ya hungry     :D

G-- I check to see how the 3 countries are doing, what their strat status is, and either choose a strat run accordingly or up something that will make proper use of strat damage already accomplished.
It's more fun to fly with squaddies, but it's more productive to do something that helps my side as a whole. So I'll do the former last, the latter first.

Oh, how long do I play at a sitting? Maybe 2-3 hours 2x a day (more so now that my wife is in Europe). Flying buffs takes time!
