Title: What a fun night last night!
Post by: Zoney on July 18, 2015, 10:13:20 AM
Great action my friends, right up until the last few minutes of the frame.  <S> to you all, especially the late attackers that had re-armed and tried to hit 10 later on.  I called out "10 is flashing again" to my mates as we were returning from a fight at 5 (I think), and then just a few minutes later it was flashing again.  WTG making that last effort and I know you guys did get some more damage to 10 for your efforts!

FSO's make everything so much more worthwhile, I don't know what I would do without it.

We returned from our escort duties from our attack on A72.  When we left 72 we broke everything on that base.  There wasn't anything left to attack.

We rearmed at 65 and were desperately trying to determine if the math would allow us to 10 and to 5...

So we went for it.  As we neared, NAVCAD and I grabbed the deck knowing we had some high guys coming, we had BFOOT strip his ord to cover our egress.  Knew we were vulnerable on the deck in the P40.

It took more ord than we thought on that last hanger but managed to do it.  Every hanger on both sides was down!  I just couldn't let it go...

Then we saw the 109s!  It was difficult and every one of us died.  It was a fun night.

The NOE mission at 10 got past our scouting groups but JG 11 picked them up.  Most of my squad pounced on one set of Bostons as it was egressing and we poured a ton of C.202 rounds into him. At the time we thought we only nailed one of them for our efforts, but a second one eventually went down some time after we were forced to disengage.

We swept A5 with JG 11 and managed to bag a couple of hurri's, then got bounced by P40's on the way home. Dropped 3 of them but the got two of us. Watched from the tower as A10 got strafed. It was a very exciting evening.

Second wave of 2 P40's and 2 single Boston's on A10 destroyed:

1 Ammo Bunker
1 Fuel Depot
1 Troop Barracks
1 Vehicle Hanger
1 Fighter Hanger

I didn't see anyone at 20K...on my way in or out.  The other three must have gone in low.

Me and NAV came in on the deck in our P40s.  BLBird came in low behind us.  Biggamer and JDog came in low to mid alt.  BFOOT climbed.

We had to make several passes on that VH.  It wasn't as soft as we had hoped but we kept at it.  Took 2.5K pounds to drop it.  It made us all low and slow and we put too much on BFOOT to scrub on his own.  I should have had him come in with us and just scrap on the deck on egress.

Either way, it was a blast!
