Title: Auction To Help A Serviceman With Cancer
Post by: Dichotomy on August 05, 2015, 08:08:53 PM

I doubt anybody here has $5100 laying around in their couch cushions.  Crying shame I haven't won the lottery yet or I'd just take care of this myself.

Question is why are there legal issues with doing a Gofundme or something similar for an active duty service member?  Generally TheChive community, especially when it's a service member or child in need, will knock a goal into the next solar system.  That just seems off and wrong to me.

probably because there's lots of scams.  not saying this is one, but without specifics, I would be unwilling to donate.  just too sketchy.

There has to be more to it than that.  Resignation Media is pretty good about making sure their charities are legit.

John Resig is a good guy and if he says there are 'issues' then I believe him but I'd like to know what they are.
