Did a few sorties with mikev and I have to say he's coming along nicely. He managed to land a couple of single kill sorties and fared no worse than my squaddie and I in terms of getting shot up. Keep up the good work, mike! :salute

thanks Zoney . had a pretty good time last night . was good to have people with you and not feel so "alone". I even gave glzzzzzz a run for his money . always like to give the 242 sloppy seconds a taste. the big issue i was having was i know all the maneuvers i just dont know how or when to use them.

It's like learning your ABC's (which in AH stands for Always Be Climbing). You learn the individual letters first, then the words, then string them all together into complete, devastating sentences. :)
Jut to reiterate what I saw: You're pretty good at evasive maneuvers; you're not giving up easy kills and you have decent situational awareness. You can dog a con fairly effectively and get the shot, although I did not see much in the way of crossing shots (i.e. getting a plane to fly through your bullet stream as opposed to just getting on his six and shooting). Some of what you want to learn only comes with practice and experience; things like assessing the situation, picking targets and judging an opponent's energy state are very difficult to pick up or teach.
Remember to take your time getting into a fight. You want to engage with as many advantages as you can. Observe, assess and then strike.

Keep in mind too there will be days when everything falls in place, and you down nearly every plane you see. Then they will be days when everything falls in place for the other guys and they shoot you down every time.
At sometime switch to one of the P-38s to develop your defensive skills and especially throttle control. The P-38 will also tune your eye to watch the speed. Super "Attack" plane to devolve your dive bomb skills.

Mike, are you flying in the FSO's on Friday yet? Muzzy's got a great squad there and if you are not participating then trust me on this, you want to be. I'm not volunteering Muzzy to take you in to his squad, I'm just telling you, YOU HAVE GOT TO FLY THE FSO"S !!!
You will quickly learn how I and many others feel. the FSO's are the game, everything else is just practice.

Actually I didn't land any of my Spit 16 flights that I recall, so either it would have been a kill or nothing....you might have scuffed up mikev. :)

lol this is very true with me. some days i come home with dead arms from work and it just never seems to come together. other days i can jump right in . most of the time i need about 15 mins in the air to just get the feel of the stick then im ready to go. but yup there are them days .

Well I finally got a chance to fight ya. Muzzy got me once then I saw you thinking you were him and did a cheap shot "revenge HO" I never saw the muzzy after that. I do believe you got me once or twice during our fighting.
