Title: F6F tail hook

With landing gear up, you can extend the tail hook but you can't retract it. At least not always.
With the landing gear down, you can both extend the hook and retract it.

I noticed this after a carrier landing and subsequent rearm and takeoff.

If the hook is out by itself you can retract it with the gear key. In other words, hit "g" twice and the hook retracts.
