Don't do it!!!!!!! :devil
I can not understand WHY people are rushing in to installing Win10. Is there something special about it? Does it make money fall out of the DVD tray? What is it?

It's the aggressive hype and marketing about the novelty. You'd fall off the sled if you don't upgrade. You'd become a relic if you don't upgrade. If you don't upgrade right now, you'll get fired, your wife will leave you, your mother-in-law will move to your house instead, you'll get wrinkles and pimples, your hair will fall off, your car will fail the annual checkup, your computer will be hacked... And did I already mention, it's FREE! And that isn't all! You'll also get a thorough investigation of your surfing habits made. Your data will be regularly checked for safety by the NSA. Your online activity information will be kept a secret between Microsoft and some selected well paying marketing companies. And all of this for the incredible price of FREE! If you're still hesitating, did I already mention it doesn't cost you a cent? :devil

:lol Now you scare me guys... will continue the reviews and my security :t :devil

Don't let others scare you away from downloading Windows 10. They're afraid to download it themselves, so they try and scare or put down anyone else who
chooses to install it.

I use it and no problems with AH. I did have a controller bug after download but managed to fix it and it now seems to work fine.

hehehe FREE crap is STILL crap!
I'm ok with everyone else testing and working the bugs out. In 8-10 years when they no longer support Win7 they should have it pretty stable. I'll upgrade then.
-
I tried it. I got an unexplained CTD from the main and immediately switched back. The good thing is that the switch back to 7 was painless. . . . .I'll give it a year and maybe try it again. I also upgraded my 6 YO laptop and it seems ok. It's not used for sims and such.

welfare and foodstamps plus low income houseing seems to be the way to go these days no complaint there. no mother-in-law no worries, wrinkles are signs of experience pimples a sign of youth, OK has no annual checkup on vehicles :rock The NSA makes me feel safe but they will see me playing AHII and maybe get more subscribers. plus its free.

Well, if you are faced with reinstalling your OS anyway, it is a lot faster to install W10 with 26 updates instead of W7 with 298!
All of that being said: What are you afraid of? Do you think the NSA will call the "Share my data" switch "the Jared switch?"

if you don't upgrade, don't be crying afterwards about having to pay a new license...

A lot can happen between now and 2020 (when W7 supports end).
Personally, I see no reason to upgrade. All my software works fine and I like the W7 GUI better (well, I do not use the W7 GUI,....mine still looks more like Windows 95).
-
. . . Personally, I see no reason to upgrade. . . .
Sooner or latter though, a new computer will be needed and it will come with W10. Another side of the coin is what percentage of users will go to W10? The bigger the switch to W10 the less product back fitting to W7 and 8 in hardware and software.
The savoy work by MS to use "Free" followed by ". . .have to pay for W10 in a year" is powerful stuff.
I really like W7 but the handwriting is on the stall wall.
-
Only OEM computers have that forced OS thing. I have a couple of W7 OEM discs about the house.
By the time W7 is ending the operating system world may look very different than today.
Even if I was going to change, there is no way I would do it right now. The things people are discovering about W10 is enough to keep me away from it.

free junk is still junk, I'll gladly pay for a stable product with most of the bugs all ready worked out and a fresh load of drivers for all my peripherals a few years down the road.

I am pretty sure I will never install Windows 10 on any of my personal computers.
-
Installed it on a dual core/3gig laptop and de-installed 3 days later.
Win 7 on the same machine is faster loading/shutdown and operation.
Win 10 clobbered the laptop with quite a slowdown.

I guess you are still running DOS?

I guess you are still running DOS?
Yes, as we all do with a Windows overlay to make things easier.
I stuck with XP until it was no longer supported as it was the most stable and bug free version at the time. I switched to Win skipping all the crap versions in between as it is the most stable and bug free version available at this time. I will most likely stay with this version until it is no longer supported hoping windows gets another version squared away as best as they can.
Is any Windows product perfect? Nope, but win is certainly better than win 10 at this time.
-
With every iteration of Windows, the first releases have always been buggy as can be. Always. It takes some time to get them stable. No doubt Windows 10 will get stable, but its particular feature list is the reason why I will never use it on my personal computers.
In all likelihood, Windows 7 will be the last Microsoft operating system I ever use. The direction they are taking things is not compatible with my personal definition of what an operating system is.
-
I upgraded on my gaming rig only. Unfortunately I have only been on a few minutes in a gv. However it seemed to work well. Time will tell.

Went to Windows 10 a week or so ago, nice system no problems EXCEPT no vox in game , I can hear but not talk. any ideas?
-
Been using Win 10 for several weeks not with no issues at all. None, nada, nil, zip.......you get the idea :)
Everything worked right out of the box. I guess I must be lucky to have such a sucktard thing work for me when the rest of the world is saying it is so bad.

Just because you have not run into the many documented problems Windows 10 has, does not mean there are no problems. For example: https://www.yahoo.com/tech/13-windows-10-bugs-microsoft-c1249735918542902.html

I could add a few to that list and not reach the end of the problems I've seen.

Come on Skuzzy - that list is full of mostly cosmetic issues not the base OS.

You may consider them cosmetic, but that is only a dribbling of problems being reported to Microsoft about Windows 10. The problems range from lockups to losing data to non-operation hardware devices and so on.
One does not have to look very far to find any number of problems. There is a reason Microsoft is pushing updates out as fast as it can.
Windows 10 is not stable yet. Even Microsoft will say that and has said it. I wish I had time to post all the links to all the problems.

Well... i began to like windows 8! :) Im pretty sure i know of a few buggy programs i use on my pc

Hey what happened to Windows 9? :noid
-
Hey what happened to Windows 9? :noid
The official explanation is that they wanted to avoid confusion with Windows nine-somethings, the 9x versions (95, 98, 98SE, Me)
Word on the street may tell that it's because Apple has a long time had the OS X, which as you know is 10 in Roman.

Just another bit of information, more pertinent to those who have decided not to try Windows 10.
A quote from Microsoft:
"For individuals who have chosen to receive automatic updates through Windows Update, we help upgradable devices get ready for Windows 10 by downloading the files they’ll need if they decide to upgrade.
"When the upgrade is ready, the customer will be prompted to install Windows 10 on the device.”
So if you have "Automatic Updates" enabled, Microsoft is pushing the Windows 10 installer to your computer, even if you have not opted in for it. Once they determine your devices are all supported in Windows 10, then you will start getting a prompt about upgrading to Windows 10, each time you boot.
-
yes, once you reach the adequate patch level win7 will spam you about upgrading, I'm pretty it can be disabled thos with some tinkering.
For now, except the bug I had just after the upgrade on day 1, the experience has been good. My computer boots a few seconds (no ssd), performance is on par if not better than under win7. I still had to disable a couple of privacy things but I can say windows 10 itself never crashed on me yet, and I appreciate the GUI improvments from win8 mixed with the classic "windows". The GUI is good looking but doesn't hinder the use of the computer.
Granted I'm a bit biased (I'm that guy that ran WinME for a while) and I was really curious about Win10 also for professionnal reasons, but I don't see why I should roll back to Win7.

No, you are talking about the small update which places an ICON in the tray which allows you to apply for the Windows 10 update.
This is completely different.
Microsoft is downloading the Windows 10 update to ANY computer which has "Automatic Updates" enabled. That update is about 3.5GB is size. Once that download is done, they do not install it. They issue tests against your hardware to make sure it is all supported in Windows 10, then they harass you about updating to Windows 10 each time you boot.
Example: User A does not want Windows 10 and never installed the update which would prompt him to upgrade to Windows 10, but User A has "Automatic Updates" enabled on his computer. User A continues to use his computer while Microsoft slips a Windows 10 update onto his computer, without his knowledge. After a few days User A starts getting a boot prompt asking him to update to Windows 10.
I am still trying to find information on how to clean that mess up. In the meantime, I would strongly suggest anyone who does not want his/her computer to be updated to Windows 10 to disable "Automatic Updates" as soon as you can.

Alt + Tab seems iffy when you want to go to desktop. I find holding it down and clicking the desktop button on the far right works.
Windows 10 installed drivers to my integrated sound card and I use soundblaster. So I had to disable that and any related items in device manager.
