Title: Computer Won't Start After Shipping

Thanks to a couple of friends, I received a rig. The only problem is now is that it will not start.
System Specs: Processor: Intel Core I7 3770K CPU: Msi z77a-g45 Thunderbolt Mobo Power Supply: Xeon 1000w
Things Tried So Far:
Resetting Of GPU
Resetting Of Power-2-Motherboard both 15-prong connections
Resetting RAM
Resetting Harddrive
Tested Outlet AND Plug Into Different Towers
Note: Found that the power switch was disconnected most likely during shipping and was reset into its proper home after reading through manual. No indicating light anywhere on motherboard. Fan on power supply does not turn on when back switch turns on.
Any ideas? Hopefully the powesupply and motherboard hasn't gone bad.

In all seriousness though, pull off the 24 pin connector. Grab your multi meter (if you don't have one, you can pick one up Lowes/Home Depot) and plug it into one of the molex connectors. Bridge the connection between the green wire on the 24 pin header and any black pin. Read If you are not reading any voltage between the pins on the molex, your PSU is dead.

did you put the little cardboard thingies before you screw the mobo on? is the fan power one do you have all the power supplies conncected to the mobo?
is it plugged into the wall and is the light on?

While you have the side cover off, locate the wires to the power switch. Use some type of metal to jump the wires together. (screwdriver/nailclippers or whatever) Just tap them together real quick and let go. You won't get shocked, but it will determine if you have a bad power switch.

Unplug the PSU, and push in on the memory modules one by one.. Also check the fan plugs, and that the CPU fans is seated securely.

So after getting a few Z's I started at it again.
This time I started by detaching the power supply from the mobo and removing it from the system entirely. At this point I use the paperclip test on the power supply and it seems to have passed since the fan turned on.
SO... I looked over the main power to the mobo, detached and gave the pins a decent cleaning and reinstalled the power supply...
Good news is that it powered on, bad new is that it doesn't stay powered on.
Now the question is it the power supply? Or is there a short circuit?

It could be the power supply, but also motherboard, or one of its attached components. Normally when something else than the power supply is broken, it will beep one or more times, or have led lights, indicating what part to be looked over.
I remember one time when I got this problem, I did a Bios reset, and after that it worked. It's worth a shot.

Also, make sure all of your fans are spinning. Even the video card's fan. My computer acted like that once and it was just a zip-tie that was stuck in the video cards fan, preventing it from working.

All fans spinning on the case and case panels. GPU fans running and CPU cooler fan running.

I remember one time when I got this problem, I did a Bios reset, and after that it worked. It's worth a shot.
After messing with the usual suspect RAM, I tried turning the rig on with the RAM and with the RAM in different slots. Without RAM installed it powered off as seen in the video with same time increment. But with the RAM installed into different slots, it powers on and stays on.
Looking at the top-right of the Mobo, all four indicator lights on the CPU phase are showing ok. NO BEEPS
But the catch is, the RAM are no longer in their corresponding colored slots. But mobo manual says nothing about "having" to have them color coded...

In order to use dual data rate (the DDR of DDR3) the memory must be in similar color slots. In your MBs case there is no primary color for the first memory to be populated mentioned, like there would be for some systems. So, as long as they are in slots of the same color they will work. I would have chosen DIMM1 and DIMM3 myself, but certainly not DIMM1 and DIMM2 (for instance).

Which is the same as I configured them now... As I received it they were in DIMM2 and DIMM4. However DIMM2 and DIMM4 were colored black while DIMM1 and DIMM3 are blue.

Did you try to reset the bios ? Normally this is done by start it up with a jumper shifted.

Check the bios battery! A week ago I had an older tower which was totally dead. Of course I thought it's the PSU, but a couple of spares didn't do the trick. Tried without RAM sticks to hear some beeps, none. Took out the GPU for the same reason, no joy. Finally took out the bios battery, tested it: 1.5 volts instead of the 3+ it should be. Changed it and voilą!
Another reason for the computer to only stay on for a short while is the processor overheat protector. Especially the Intel type plastic prongs combined with a high (long? protruding?) cooler get very easily loose, causing a gap between the cooler and the cpu. The prongs bend very easily, installing them right and tight may take some retries.

This was my computer that I sent to the Krabman because I had built a new one a while back and didn't really need. I powered it up and ran it through it's paces as far as boot, check through OS and looked through file system via windows explorer. didn't go online because I didn't have it hooked to the router. I worked perfectly, so I am parying that it's nothing serious, just gremlins picked up from FedEx. That it at least starts is a good sign, and I really want to hear what the POST says.

Seems like Gremlins... IT LIVES
Since I am impatient to find out if it is really alive or not, I removed the GPU for now so that I can see if I can get to the boot screen through the Mobo.
All I have to do now is get the RIGHT cable I need for the monitor-2-GPU and I should be golden...
I'll have pics and dxdiag posted when I get my hands on that blasted cable.

I appreciate the offer LD, I got it covered today! I'll start another thread in the o'club to say thanks to folks that helped me get this rig now that it is fully up.
