Title: September 2015 FSO = Battle Of Britain = FINAL SCORE

Thank you, everyone who flew in this series. FSO doesn't happen unless you show up.  :salute

Frame 1: ALLIED Tactical Victory
Frame 2: DRAW
Frame 3: AXIS Tactical Victory

The A/C number limit infractions were very few. In Frame 1 the RAF flew three too many Spitfires while the Luftwaffe came up four short in JU-88's. In Frame 3 there was one JU-88 too many and the HE-111's came up three short.

The high point of attendance was Frame 2, with 110 Allied and 135 Axis pilots. The RAF had trouble finding pilots for Frame 3 (art imitating life?).

Friendly fire incidents were few, and reflected the free-for-all that often happens around attacks on bombers with escort. (Bad Bino! You shot down USRanger! Go sit in the corner!)

In all three Frames the number of successful RAF bailouts mirrored the number of Luftwaffe pilots captured after bailing out.

For the number-crunchers out there, link to a 92-kilobyte ZIP archive of my scoring spreadsheets here (http://kenshelby.us/fso-2015-09/score.zip).

Bino, thanks for posting the scores right away.  It is nice to see them before I forget what happened.

I know a lot of people complain about BOB. But having flown in it many times and looking at the scores and pilot stories it is by FAR the most evenly matched fight of any campaings we fly...

The 109 E is not my favorite either, but it is sure fun. The bombers have a chance to live and takes teamwork to kill them unlike in late war where a FW with 30MM can wipe out a formation on one pass. Of course he then has to RUN for his life   :x

The 325th had a ball overall.  We got wiped out and did some wiping ourselves.  The BOB scenario like it or not has the most evenly matched plane sets and it really comes down to which squads are on which side and the plans of the CIC's and of course how the Squads execute those orders and missions.

I would have liked seeing and fighting against an AXIS mission set against the ALLIED STRAT targets (replicating the switch to city targets) for Frame 3.  Along with the tactical issues with that.  Maybe next time hey CM's.

Thanks to all of the CM's and the CM team in making another fun scenario play out.

There were more than a few smiling faces over at the Arabian Knights' O'Club at the end of Frame 3.  In all three frames we encountered very realistic dogfights.  Many of them were hair-raising defensive ones where opponents were throwing bb's around the sky because that was all that was left.  In fact we started counting the bullet holes in the survivor's planes.  I only had 7 in Frame 3.  Somebody had 12 or 13 in Frame 1.

And then there was the fight where I'm pretty sure there were coin purses and shoes flying back and forth.  I think there's film of that......but maybe not.

We landed five pilots after Frame 3.  We lined up on the runway and shut down.  For a little while nobody said anything.  I think we were drained dry.  That's my favorite memory of this BoB.

Well done!

 :salute

I'm glad everyone seemed to have great fun...makes it worthwhile for me to miss flying one of my absolute favorite planes in the game - the Hurri Mk1. Maybe next time I'll arrange for a CM duty swap with someone.  :airplane:

Frame 2 - SKJackD went back for the usually "bad idea" second pass over target and ended up being thoroughly ventilated for his efforts.  The crew chief WISHED it was only 12 or 13 holes!  Served him right for flying a white skin...  :D

I'm very glad you folks enjoyed this year's FSO BOB.   :salute

Viper, I like your idea about the strat targets for Frame 3. I'll have to look into how that could be scored. Although, hopefully, we'll be flying AH-III next time!

Plissken, are you calling me some kind of artist? Your comment reminds me of Comicus at the Vnemployment Isvrance office:

I love that movie!  Leave it to you to quote Mel Brooks.  Great job as always my friend.  Admins dream and setups build.  Imadot passed on his favorite flight.  We all serve. But Bino is truly a master.  Again, all hail!

I know I speak for all of LTG when I say that this was one of the best running of BoB that we've seen yet. Bravo.
