Title: October '15 KOTH Dates
Post by: Bruv119 on September 24, 2015, 05:41:30 PM
So we have a real treat for the KOTH crowd in October!  not 1 but 2 runnings of the most enjoyable dogfighting event AH has to offer.

Saturday EURO KOTH will be held 10th October at 3pm EDT,  8pm BST, 9pm CET in the SEA II arena.  1st plane will be the C-205  Hosted by Bruv119

Saturday US KOTH will be held 10th October at 8pm EDT, 1am BST , 2am CET in the SEA II arena. Hosted by FBCrabby.  1st plane TBC.

Hopefully I can stay awake for the later running as I would like to fly in a KOTH for the first time in years.    :D

Going forward we intend to have the usual 2 runnings a month with FBCrabby running a later US time slot of his choosing and I will continue with a more Euro friendly time.   I'm not going to call it EURO KOTH as all are welcome to participate.

 :O :D

But seriously, I am very happy to see monthly Saturday in NA time KOTH becoming a thing.  I've missed the last couple because I got sidetracked, but I generally can't make the Friday ones, so woohoo!

Wiley.

<snip>

Yes you can fly in both events no matter where you reside. he even mentioned he doesn't want to refer to it as EuroKOTH.

UPDATE:

Due to circumstances out of my control we have to move the US Saturday KOTH a week later to the 17th October, will be held at the same time of 8pm EDT / 1am BST.

Best way to look at it is instead of one big day of KOTH we can have it 2 saturdays running for those who can make it as much or as little on both days.

In the future once crabby has finished all of his CM training he can take over the scheduling for the US timed one.

is it that time already?

KOTH will be this afternoon at 3pm EDT / 8pm BST,  this is the last one on summertime so next month the times might change.

The planned US KOTH will be next Saturday at 8pm EDT or 1am UK time.

My first time in KOTH - I chose to participate to support the long standing event.

BL - good event.  Love the open comms, the "DA" type engagements.  Good hype for AH.

What I didn't like:  why after merge with an opponent, my AC got above the 6K CAP, which is enforced by stringent settings, did Bruv ground me?  The merge was at about 3.5K and we both maneuvered for position.  As we climbed, I managed to get above the bandit, but was grounded by Bruv.

Why use a strict arena setting and then ground the pilot?

It sounds like Bruv was already watching your fight and when he witnessed you over the cap that's when you got grounded.

The Arena setting is probably more of a insurance measure since the CM can't be every where at once.

Hey ammo,

I was glad to see you there in koth!

The Koth rules of 6.0K all limit is always in effect from "Fights On" is called until the end of the round...as you probably already knew...

Most will instantly bail and .ef / Tower out.... Bruv most likely ended your flight, because he didn't hear anything like:
"I'm out, just broke cap"
"bailing, broke alt cap"

or something to that effect... Since the Koth host can not be viewing every match at the same time, we have always relied on the honor system or others calling the player out for the koth host...

Hope that helps explain that rule a little better for you.... Bruv only towered you out for the remainder of that round, as far as I know..

If ya want to review the KOTH rules, they are posted at the top of this forum and in MOTD in the KOTH arena when it's terrain is loaded online

Hope to see you again in koth

TC

TC pretty much covered it,

6k alt limit is a hard ceiling,  the terrain has an inbuilt cloud layer at this point.  If you go over it your out of the round as you broke that rule.

This can be achieved in one of two ways the pilot admits his error  (his plane starts getting pushed and pulled all over by the wind vortex that is set >6k)  and bails out.  A quick "I went over" on vox would help everyone understand what happened.

The host grounds you because you were over the limit for what is deemed to be long enough to cause concern to your opponent.  IE you come hurtling down out of the cloud at a tremendous speed and continue to fight.   I was watching this fight in god mode and did ground you as explained at the time.   Don't feel bad about this because it does happen often when people aren't used to the rules and get lost in the moment and go over the cap.  The grounding was removed instantly after so you can continue to play in the following rounds.

As for the Euro KOTH I wish Nef hadn't referred to it as such as it has caused 2 different players to question whether they are allowed to play.  ANYONE can play KOTH whatever time it is held!

Look forward to seeing you all this Saturday for MrKrabs first KOTH as host.   The evening slot at 8pm EDT / 1am BST.  The fights were excellent thanks to some good plane choices and I'll post up the official results this afternoon when I have my notes infront of me.    :aok

I think perhaps turn planes with weak guns are a good choice as the fighting is intense and lasts longer so more people get to join in and furball.

Of course everyone should chose whatever they personally like best  :salute.
