Wouldnt have it any other way. Ya'll helped me become the player that I am today. Im not great but I dont suck and always play to help the team win. I never found the right team, the right coach. Hell its a game right? How hard could it really be? For the first few years I ended up with groups of guys that were lead by players of skill but were dysfunctional and bitter as human beings . The game long ago stopped being just a simple form of entertainment. I became a slave to performance and excellence. That had to be the mark if I wanted any place at that camp fire or I wasnt shish. You produce or you suck and dont get called out for assignment that is either critical for the success of the mission or simply just not getting ignored. It was work. It left its mark on me. :salute
Of my own doing I carried that on and still to this day. I have developed a certain kind of resentment to those who talk a good talk but when it comes down to it they fail and make excuses or have no problems wasting other peoples time for some self serving purpose. I like to win but I have always taken the game way too seriously :rofl
So Gentleman it's time I tone it back. As I get older I look forward to sitting back and watching while working smarter not harder :cheers:
Whether I like you or despise you your all still some of the best people to interact with and compete against in the world and I appreciate every second I have the same opportunity :cheers:

Had a CEO give a gobbeldygook speech like this once to the company. His replacement a few weeks later was a lot more coherent.

Wizz, you aren't the first person to take this road. I've seen it countless times over the years.
So, with apologies to Erikson, I give you the following stages;
Becoming Involved vs. Not Subscribing (0 days - 2 months) At this stage, the new player decides to learn the game, or get frustrated with the learning curve and quit.
Win The War vs. Learn to Fight (2 months - 8 months) At this time, the newer player joins a squadron and decides which path his gameplay will be; either winning the war or concentrating on the fight. This choice depends greatly on the squadron the individual joins.
Popularity vs. One of Many (8 months - 3 years) During this period the player seeks to gain notoriety or becomes one of the masses (voluntarily or not). Note that some never leave this stage.
Stagnation vs. Action (3 years - 7 years) At this period the player leaves the game in boredom or branches out in the game to keep interest alive. Some even attempt to give back to the game to keep the interest alive.
Frustration vs. Acceptance (7 years +) During this period the player decides that the new crop of players or tactics are the worst thing to happen to the game in a very long time. They lash out against any new idea or concept and often leave the game for several months at a time, vowing never to return. With few exceptions, they always return to the game eventually.
(I'm sure I missed one or two stages, but it is a start)

The coach is protecting an underling from an attack by a columnist in a paper. Sounds like maybe he had a legitimate gripe too. Past that you have lost me.

...anyways maybe relax and fly. Some guys come into AH holding on way to tight to the stick and expecting certain things to happen in a certain way. Just have fun and let things come as they do would be my advice. Also don't fret over other folks issues. Life is too short just deal with yours.

One modification to dels tally. I found a group of friends and I care less about the game play than I do the conversation and chance to share part of myself.
I reckon this happens in some phases, perhaps most, to those who are capable of humility.
