I have always wondered: except for military aircraft on military property do the private owners get some type of payment for bringing their aircraft in?

Depends on the show.  When I was in the business, we used to receive compensation for expenses, lodging, meals, and be provided with a rental vehicle.  For true exotics adn some acts, some get very nice show up fees.
