Anyone try it yet?
If you have an Origin account its a free download. No invite/signup needed.
It only lasts until Monday.
If you have the horsepower, the graphic a beautiful.
Basically good mindless laser blaster fun.

Just got it downloaded, gunna try it tonight.
-
Yes. I downloaded it and played single player area for about 20 minutes yesterday. It is very well done, IMHO.
I'm not much of a player though.
The wife likes this kind of thing and she downloaded it tonight. Said it the graphics were awesome.
I want to look more into the 'scoring system' if you want to call it that. I saw a status bar that made a reference to 'credits' and my alarm went off. Thinking further, this is not Origin's model so I don't think anybody has to send in 99 cents to upgrade a blaster.
I'll look again tomorrow.

Its outsatnding VuduVince in game on PC

Helped son download it, watched it afterwards, graphics looked good, remember playing the original with the kids on the Playstation, was good back then.
-
Had it since Thursday, looks like it will be fun. Preordered it back in the spring for PS-4, looks like it will be money well spent.

It's basically Battlefield: Battlefront. However, it is more simplified and arcade-like than battlefield. While I feel like it doesn't deliver the same feel as the originals, I like what they're putting down with this one. It's much better played in 3rd person, in my opinion. Glad I found it in the options!

I agree. To me it feels like the original battlefield:1942 in the Star Wars universe. Just complex enough to be fun, but not so complex you have to dedicate your life to it to be competitive.
Agree on the 3rd person. I resisted it, but gave it as it is too much of an advantage.

Also had to give up trying to aim down site unless I'm trying to ping at a distance. There is no built-in accuracy penalty for hip shooting and in sites you move slower. You need to dance while you shoot most cases.
Also thanked God when I found the setting for toggle sprint so I didn't have to hold down the sprint key constantly.
When the official version gets out, some of us should try to squad up.

I had a great time with it last night. It's really very cool.
Mrs. Raider sat down with it on my rig at 10PM and she has a (frightening) instinct for the the game. She finally crawled into bed at 1:30 AM. Even more scary for me is that she actually prefers sniper simulations. However...she woke up refreshed this morning. :O
Great video link, Wabbit. We were trying to play it on three screens last night. There's some problems with that. The gun-sight was showing up on the left monitor. I think I'll set it up for one monitor and play it for awhile tonight.

I had that same 3 screen bug.
Try setting your graphics to borderless window mode instead of full screen. Weird I know, but that worked for me.
Warning: it takes a lot of horsepower to drive 3 screens in that game especially in Hoth map with all the action.
I upgraded to a Nvidia GTX 980 Ti and it is freakin awesome.
Got to bed about 3:30am last night.

I tried to try it but apparently an NVidia GTX 260 is too old and it won't even run. Game complains that I don't have new enough drivers, newest nvidia drivers won't install, and NVidia "legacy" drivers aren't new enough.
So I'll sit it out.
-
Did you try using The Force?

Sounds like you have a software problem. The 260 is supported by the latest drivers. You should uninstall whatever driver you're currently using and download GeForce Experience from Nvidia. It will keep your drivers up to date and also help optimize games to run on your system.

I'll give it a shot, but the card is correctly identified by the automatic driver/card detection update utility on the NVidia website, and it will only install the last legacy driver.
-
I'm also running windows 7 pro 64 bit. Could it be that they don't have 260 GTX drivers for win7?
-
I just ran NVidia experience and it correctly identifies my video card as a GeForce GTX 260, shows a circle with slash through it for not compatible for games optimization, and has an error "sorry, GeForce experience cannot optimize games on this PC".
My CPU (intel Q9550 quad core), 8GB ram, and OS are all listed as supported.
When I go to the drivers tab, it says "Your GeForce driver is up to date", with 341.81 version installed. Checking further, it says game optimizations are available only for GeForce 400 series GPU or higher. Even clicking on "beta" driver notifications doesn't get me any driver options past 341.81.
-
Was worth a shot, but you're right. Your card is just too outdated.

GTX 260 is ancient. I gave mine away for free to someone two-three years ago. This post is tantamount to someone commenting in a thread about a game written only for a PS4 that it doesn't run on a PS3 (or PS2). Expectations are set all wrong.
-
Really not impressed with the game play.
-
Seems to me that the gameplay is not supposed to be impressive, DICE has rather gone for a cinematic experience.
If you have 30 minutes I recommend you look up Bluedrake42's "Total Rant" about Star Wars: Battlefront on utub. Watch out for language though. :old:

Crazy how fast the vid cards today are, but... GTX 260 runs AH just fine, ran portal and portal 2, runs civilization... Yea any game that runs looks like it was made 10 years ago, and some won't run at all. But this game is the first new game I've even tried to run in the last year and a half and it is the first one that has outright refused to run.
So I've got a bunch of games that do run fine and I still don't have time to play those either. And cash is a problem right now so the computer refresh I've been planning for 4 years will probably get put off another year or three.
-
I had a lot of fun with it. I will be buying it when it comes out.
I consider it light entertainment. I think it will provide a good amount of online sillyness.
And it's great eye candy.
