Title: Help identifying this turret.
Post by: Obie303 on October 15, 2015, 12:33:03 PM
I was at a WW2 re-enactment and this turret was in one of the shops being restored.  I didn't recognize it and took a few shots to post here.  Can anyone identify this turret?

Thanks,
Obie

This troop transport was at the event.  It was recently restored in 2013.  Fun day.

My guess is an M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage turret that's been modified with a piece on top with vision ports so the crew can see without sticking their heads up.

The paint is original (so I was told).  It's grey.  Wouldn't it be a German vehicle?  (Excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong.)

I think I'd go with a WWII LVT:

Not a WW2 LVT.
