Found this video on another forum.  Probably staged but still funny.

As many times as he was (supposedly) shocked, he should either be dead or permanently running around in a football helmet with a severe case of tourettes

Definitely staged. He's got to be an electrical engineer with all that equipment. Those aren't items he picked up at the home depot. Still funny though.

Didn't see anything there a person with a Digikey account couldn't get hold of.

I want to believe it's real...  :noid

Guaranteed staged, he was holding the soldering iron by the metal part. Even if it was near the handle, those suckers get really hot.

Still hilarious. Going to show this to my professors on Thursday, I'm sure they will get a kick out of it.

Hmmm, I feel the same way about electricity as I do about crocodiles - just great as long as someone else is responsible for handling it, otherwise I keep well away.

Gotta be staged.. nobody capable ( or willing ) to compile such a list of failures and still post it to the net has to be doing it by accident..

Or.. we may be witness to the slowest learner on the planet.

Funny.. and I have to admit, I've committed a couple of those myself..

When I was a kid we used to holiday at my aunties place. She had an ancient TV, but the knob had come off the channel selector. The only way to change channels was to poke a screwdriver down there to turn it. Trouble was it was like a game of operation, you had to be real steady not to touch the sides and get shocked, even through the screwdriver handle.

That video reminds me of that TV.... so many shocks in my youth.

I'm with you there brother.

The only thing I know about electricity is how to get the shorts out of the crack of my arse.

Youd be surprised by the number of people, like that one, that I run into on a daily basis. They call in with some sort of trouble order and are intent on it being the fault of the power company. Each would have you think they are experts, but few can change the battery in their flashlight.

Then there are those who dig in a swimming pool, cut the secondaries feeding their home, and expect us to magically reroute the lines so they have power an hour later......

Electricity is good for the gene-pool........

I don't even know if it's staged but it's good stuff.   :x  no idea how he isn't at least missing an eye.

I think its a combination of staged and real stuff. I think even in out own specialized professions most of us have had enough of brainfart moments and/or days that just didnt go right over the years to make a pretty decent outtakes video. Problem is. for many of us it would take years if not multiple decades to amass a numerically comparable collection.

I digress. Some of those reactions are kind hard to fake for them all to be staged

it's all 12Vdc and less...no biggy.... it burns more than it shocks....most of the shock is the bodies reaction when it happens....
Still...to do it on purpose hahahaha.... the things people do for 15mins of fame

Slapstick lives... As a guy who has arced stuff at home occasionally, I enjoyed it. Meanwhile, I brought one of the Team Value Management supers in from Electrical to watch it. This guy invented the color-display beer tap and is a true geek, like yo. We laffed and laffed at le moron.

Hey, if you don't make comical mistakes, how can you learn or have crippling industrial accidents?

And it probably was staged, but it could be REAL still. After all, I've touched a bug zapper just out of curiosity. It hurts.

I got hit with 10k volts once, mA's but still. The next day one half of my body felt like it got run over by a truck.  :bhead

Then there was my first job in a restaurant when I was a kid, scraping grease off the wall with a steak knife next to a 220 receptacle.  Arc welded that poor knife and scared holy hell out of me...So the owner told me to leave the walls alone and go mop up some grease. I mixed 3 or 4 things in the bucket and whalla, chlorine gas!

It's a real spinning kick and fall... Just... Not a real fight. Those guys are actually pretty athletic. But, of course, they'd get seriously hurt if the fight were real.

There was a revival of roller derby about 20 years ago -on in lines. Can you imagine, given those speeds, how serious would be some of the injuries if the fighting weren't staged?
