Title: Stick issues seemed to be solved
Post by: Getback on November 07, 2015, 02:53:54 AM
I was losing calibration constantly and crashing in tight fights. I was blacking out on the slightest of turns which made me fly mighty straight. I've had enough. So I ordered a new Thrustmaster T1600, but wait, that's not going to be here for a full week!

So I ran down to best buy last night and picked up a powered USB hub. When I climbed under the desk, a dreaded task, I saw the modem was only partially plugged in. What the heck! AT&T had replaced it a couple of years back and I never checked their work. So I plugged it in all the way. Then I plugged in the new powered hub. It was a 3.0 and at first it wouldn't detect the flight controls. I looked at the back panel and plugged it into the 3.0 ports. That did the trick, the controls were detected after a reboot.

Then I checked to see if CH Products had a new Control Manager. They did. So I downloaded that after much grief with the sign on procedure.

Afterwards the controls were much much better. Time will tell for sure.

I'm not sure if the partially plugged in Modem had an effect but I bet it did because I hadn't noticed any short freezes thereafter. When I came on I could see the game more clearly.

My guess is plugging the modem all the way, the powered hub, and the new control manager all did good. Not sure which had the most influence though.

I'm not cancelling the Thrustmaster order. I may use it or keep it as a back up. If I do use it I'm dropping the rudder pedals but then I'm not sure what I would use for brakes.

Just use the keyboard for left and right brakes.

I don't understand why some map buttons on their sticks that are used only once per flight like brakes and gear.

some of us have way too many buttons so we used them for brakes, open bomb doors...

If i remember right the Thrustmaster T1600 can you use the TARGET software.  Pretty powerful stuff.

Because it's a lot easier to push a button than to type the keyboard commands.  Besides, with a CH HOTAS setup, I'm not short on buttons to program.

:airplane: OK Randy, for us computer dummies, what is Target software? How does it help my flying in AH?

TARGET software was developed by thrustmaster to be able to program keyboard button presses on just a few  of their products.  The T1600 is one of them if I remember right.  As an example, I can press one button and it will input to AH these key presses.

As you know that would set my climb speed to 120mph.

Marble uses the software too.  Gent got me started using it and Mustng2 uses it as well.

It takes a bit of effort to get use to how to use the graphic interface programming but after that it is fairly easy to use.

So far I haven't used any of the 12 keys on the base. However, after reading this that may soon change.

Thanks!
