Title: My Best Base Capture . . .Ever!
Post by: Randy1 on November 09, 2015, 10:24:03 AM
Yesterday, all the right things lined up in a neat row.   The names are left out to protect the innocent.

We greens had tried to capture a base for several hours.  The reds put up a super defense.  The greens were beaten back.  The reds had a full dar bar and just a couple of green guys left in the sector.  All looked lost.

The VH suddenly popped on our airbase giving me notion to spawn in an M3 with troops and at least a  gambler's shot at an airbase capture.  I had a long way to go with only a guess the town was still white-flagged.  I drove way north of the base and town hoping to come in a direction unexpected.  Three times I had to tuck under trees to avoid being spotted by roving NiKi's and La's.

I turned toward the red town with my heart pounding.  Pulled up the clipboard and the red-dar was solid.  Then, after a long sweaty drive, I was close enough to see that glorious white flag that many of my country men had died many times to provide.

"Don't screw-up."  I kept telling myself.

Into the town unnoticed I ran my minds gambit on the next choice.  How deep to to go into town?   Surely a tank or a some sort of flaker would be waiting.  I figured any further and no doubt, I would be spotted.  There, on the right, I saw a place next to a hedge, with a clear view of the white flag.   I stopped my M3, and let those little bastards go.

I damn near spotted while realizing a cloud of gas that my nervous tummy had generated with bubbling madness wanted to get out.  Then bang, the map room exploded just as my butt cheeks flapped together whistling the tune of long drawn out fart.

My wife screamed, "My gracious!"

That is why we play this game.  That moment that makes all things turn right in our worlds.

Thanks guys for the nice words on the story.

I was Dogtag.    It was a great battle, and pure luck on my part.   :)

More than once, I have had a base taken from me on my watch.

The 2000 year old tactic of flanking rather than coming straight in still befuddles the enemy.

That's AH's golden nugget. After my first experience it became an addiction. Everything I do in this game is centered around moments like these. I have repeated this experience several thousand times since the first and it never gets old.
