The mysterious piece of space debris named WT1190F is predicted to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere at around 6.20am GMT (13.20ET) in the skies above the Indian Ocean.
While it is expected to burn up in the atmosphere about 62 miles (100km) off the south coast of Sri Lanka, it is not impossible that smaller fragments could crash onto the surface.

LOL Andromeda strain, is more realisic than an alien invasion, there is absolutely nothing here on earth worth crossing millions of light years to fight for then gather, anything we have can be found in space in much vaster quantities..well except us but who the hell would want something so cranky, demanding and nasty as a human being.

Holey Crap Batman, I just saw something enter the atmosphere, about 2000gmt, just south of Indonesia (I was cruising at 40k). It was pretty spectacular. Maybe it was the same thing.

Could be, it is reported to have crashed 100 km south of Sri Lanka.

Maybe it is code WT1190F for a 190F from WW2 that went so high it got trapped in orbit. Pretty sure there are several old 190s caught in orbit in AH. :airplane:

The one that always cracks me up with Hollywood invasion plots is that the aliens are here for our water. I mean water? It is very commonly found in outer space including the outer reaches of the solar system and you don't need to drop down into a gravity well to get it. There was one movie recently where a scientist character mentioned that they wanted our water because it is liquid and the stuff in space is frozen. So apparently the aliens are smart enough for interstellar travel but can't heat ice.....
Aliens coming to earth for biological material (as in E.T.) makes a lot more sense.
