Title: VOX related discussion
Post by: Skuzzy on November 13, 2015, 02:32:42 PM
If your VOX is not working and you have already confirmed the settings are correct in the Options->Game Sounds panel, then let's get some more data.

We need to know if your microphone is a stereo microphone.  You can look in your Sound control panel and the properties of the microphone which should show a list of frequencies and channels available to be used.  If all the line items have "2 channel" in them, then your microphone is a stereo microphone.

2 channel... Actually, I believe it's a mono mic split into a stereo plug. My imagination can't figure out why someone would have two microphone capsules attached to a tiny swan neck type beam in front of one mouth. Not to mention that the few computer mikes I've broken - err investigated thoroughly - have all had a stereo plug but only one capsule.

Hopefully I didn't confuse anyone?

Sennheiser G4ME Gaming Headset w/ boom mic.

Currently set at 2 channel 24-bit 96K Hz frequency which makes it a stereo mic but can go to 2 channel 24-bit 192K Hz frequency if desired.

Got lucky in testing the 2nd headset today that I grabbed was a  mic that happened to be stereo. And hence thats the bug. Driver will not let me open it mono, so I  had  to break out the channels for vox.

Some days I really hate computers.
