It is with a heavy heart and deep regret that I have to announce the passing of the XO of the 365th FBG Hell Hawks Squadron Charles "Heeler" Beery, he past away last night as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Not only was he a fellow player in Aces High II, but he was a true friend to many, like a family member to some and true American Hero a brother veteran. Outside the game of Aces high he was active with many veteran type organizations always helping a veteran in need. He was an old cuss he either loved you or hated you but if he was your friend you had a friend for life. To his family members and friends we send our deepest sympathies. You will be truly missed my friend But never forgotten, May you be at peace, until we meet again.

The Claim Jumpers are deeply saddened with the loss of Heeler. What a character he was. Within minutes of meeting him I knew this guy lived with heart! He met a bunch of Claim Jumpers for 5 days of Hunting and Aces High with maybe a drink or two. We sat and listened to stories into the wee hours. He was a great blocker on our pheasant drives...nothing gets by quick draw! When I had a chance I'd stream his radio show while playing Aces High. Yes, he'd add so hints and stories. I think we might have a photo with Chuckles wearing a 2 gun belt holster with 45's and a big hat!

Monday nights, flying with the Hell Hawks won't be the same without him, that much is certain. He would always greet me on vox with a "Well HOWDY Mr. Alpo." and you never knew where things were going from there LOL. Often after a successful raid, as the red dar bar would quickly grow to repel/punish our squadrons for our impertinence and someone would undoubtedly say "Whoa we've made them mad here" and without fail, Chuck would come back with "F&*k 'em if they can't take a joke!" and laugh. Those days will surely be missed. Salute my friend.

That is such sad news, he was always such an enthusiastic scenario player and I considered him a friend. He will be missed.
p.s.
People wear your seatbelts. They may not be entirely comfortable all the time and they may take an extra few seconds at each end of the trip but for the sake of your friends and families buckle up.

I have been in a kind of shock the last two days as with all of us that were in constant communication or were a friend of his. I considered him a good friend and he will be missed. In the game I have found with him as my wing man or vise versa, and in general flying in the area with him watching, He was like a pair of hawk eyes on the prey to be had, but because he kinda stuttered, you have been shot down 3 seconds ago. I have had more fun with that and him on the side bar I got used to it and when I heard him trying to get the check six out I was already looking. His statements in the game made it fun (you think we pi**ed them off, etc.) or the fact that if you were limping home in a shot up plane you were always wanting to hear if heeler was at the base you were making it to so he could bring that one thing I know for a fact he liked "I've got a warble here bring him to me Joe". Wow I could go on and on but you would have to had been there and a lot of you were. He will be missed in the arena and I personally will miss his laugh, humor, phone calls, friendship, and advice. Charles Beery my friend I bid you farewell until the next time. I pray for your family and friends for peace and strength thru this period and that I too will leave on this earth a positive mark as you have done.

As I said in a different post, I've simply been in denial ...
Chuck (Heeler) was a kind, relatively unassuming, calm, and gentle player who always made me feel as though it was a special day just because I had managed to show up to play (and I wasn't even a member of his squad)...
A true credit to his approach to the game...and I guessing to how he chose to play out his life.
Many of us could learn from that.
I'll miss you (already do),

Wow, I'm just now reading this post.. I'm so sorry to hear about Heeler wow. Heeler's squad the Outcast was the first squad I ever joined some 15 yrs ago, Charles was a great guy, always friendly and helpful to others. This saddens me to no end.... My prayers go out to his family in this trying time. Heeler will be missed terribly. Wow, I'm still in shock! Go with God Heeler!

I saw reference to HEELER's passing in another thread, did a search and found this for confirmation. HEELER was one of the first real friends I gained from this game. While playing "cartoon airplanes" has no real weight in life, the friends we gain as a result does. The Dig Bicks was the first squad that took me in and HEELER and I hit it off from the start. I had many many fun nights flying with him. He sent me a recipe for his Oreo balls that my wife and I tried and loved them. Life got in the way of the game for a while and when I returned he wasn't around. He came back and we had some good talks on in-game PM to catch up. I was always glad to hear him in game and know he was there. I'll miss him and knowing I won't be able to talk to him again, fly with him or hear his voice will be a part of AH I will miss.
If anyone can PM me the details of his accident, I would appreciate it. HEELER was a great man. I'd like to know the details of his end for closure.
In memorial: <S> HEELER. I enjoyed you for who you were. As long as I'm alive, you will be remembered.
