Guys/ Gals
Is it me or have I realized in the past few months we have lost alot of Great players who gave their time to the game, some of them so soon and some that been battling long time battles with either Cancer or Heart Problems or accidents. Seems like every other week now I am reading about some longtime Vet's of the Game who has Passed onto higher fighter/bomber/gv grounds. and moved on to better pastures.
So As a Great Community of Aces High I would like to Reserve the AvA Arena for a Mass Memorial Flight for Our fallen Comrades I am looking at the Date of December 30th the night before New years Eve so Can we make this happen for Our Fallen Comrades and I would Also like to see some HTC Staff at this event also least we can all do for Fallen Players of the Game they loved

Okay 32 Views and Vet Players do not even have a thought about this Tributes to all the fallen AH players from the pat year???????
this is very Sad
-
Im not longer playing, but I think its a great idea. The AH community has lost a many great and wonderful people.
Dracken/titibit :salute
She left us too soon
-
Just play in the main areana and have fun is the best tribute to the players who have passed.
-
I think that's a great idea. Very often I have missed memorial flights due to them being during the middle of the night for me when I had to be up for work the following morning. Now that I am retired it's not such a problem to stay up, so I would welcome the opportunity to make up for all the flights I have missed, or in some cases have never happened, in the past. :salute

Molsman,
I think that you ALL are on to something. I went silent on the responses to the all of the notifications of the losses of some very dear community members. Pretty much having that same feeling that this is all to soon and frequent, I was beginning to feel speechless.
Zack's sentiment, is sort of like the ritual pouring of a capful of booze to be shared by buddies in remembrance of a missing member of the group, to carry on in the spirit that they would surely have us enjoy life as they did.
Flossy certainly shares the experience of a number of those (myself included) that often are not available for scheduled memorials due to time zones and commitments.
Together with Molsman's idea of celebrating the joy all of these good people have brought to the community, I would prefer an EVENT. Possibly even something new, like an event Olympics combining King of The Hill, Red Bull Race, Furball Lake, and TankTown Mega Battle all held :uhoh simultaneously on a modified Dueling Arena map or some other facsimile of gathering to memorialize veterans of the game no longer with us.
Could go like this: King of the Hill begins 1st round as folks are being picked off one by one they have options to join the mega TankTown battle while waiting for the results of the round to conclude. The same with Red Bull Race event. There could be several events that could be dedicated to past members or not.
You know, anything that could give it a carnival atmosphere, while saluting our buds who will forever be inbedded in our hearts. "Announcement: 10 minutes until the 'Heeler Memorial M3 City Rally Race,' participants meet at North spawn of A24"
-
Just because people don't respond doesn't mean they haven't felt the passing of community members. For me, brody comes to mind most readily.
Molsman, you know very well the AvA staff has always been available to serve this community! It only takes a simple PM and your follow through to organize the dedication event. Such a thing doesn't happen on it's own.
-
Really sad to see these guys go......
-
Seeing the people go reminds me of my own mortality, and how short life really is. Once you hit a certain age and you realize that you have less in front of you than behind you, every loss of someone that you see and compete with or against every day makes it sting just a little bit more. I've only been in AH since 2011, but in that short time have witnessed the loss of many people that I spoke with almost every day, or was killed by or killed. Every one of them was a real person, with real lives, loves and feelings. It's really easy to relegate them to being cartoon people, without even thinking about it. When they pass, reality sets in. I miss many of those gone, for the smiles that they gave me, the white knuckled moments when we'd fight and for the countless hours that I have had the incredible pleasure of playing this game. I think a mass memorial is a fitting idea and hope that I'm able to participate.

Mols, I saw that you called me last night, let me know how I can help here.

I think its a good idea, I'll try to be there. :rock

I am in.
Should be able to get good turnout from G3-MF.

Mols,
I would happy and proud to set up the AvA in any planeset or map we have for this. Just pm me and we can get together. The staff is always willing to help our fallen comrades.
-
Mols........good on ya mate.
I think there are several really good ideas here and I think maybe we can do a yearly tradition in remembrance of all that have been here past and present. My preference would be an AvA event where we have a bit of a fight along with some fun while we pay tribute to all things Aces High.

I will be in contact with the AvA Staff and Nef it was totally something different then this ,,,,This Ideal popped in my mind after a long week of work and to many Adult beverages

Too bad we don't have the option to name fields with the names of our fellow travelers who have graced our virtual world. Or christen CV groups, even the new battleships that will be in AHIII. Not sure if the younger players would understand, or if the inclusion criterion would even be doable.
Even allow a logo spot on your ride like the squad art to carry a remembrance, HTC approved naturally.
-
bustr those are some really good ideas.

Easily doable on clipboard maps on terrains. :aok

it would be a good idea to list of and give 3 moments of silence to each soul we have lost. Make a toast to them and fly a pattern

I wasn't sure whether I should say anything, but decided that it might help others settle their feelings if I did so here goes.
Mols, don't be discouraged. People deal with grief in their own way. Yours is to honor our friends with a show, gathering, other are ok with dealing with it in private in their own little ways. Tipping a glass, or 5 to a fallen comrade while sitting at home quietly is how some like to handle it.
I have never been to a "memorial flight" and I don't think I ever will. It just isn't my way. I have seen a number of friends leave us due to cancer, accidents, medical issues and just plain old "old age".
All Im saying, is it's great you want to put together something like this for those who feel the need to join in, but don't let it sadden you, nor should it bother others if they don't want to participate. I may be that it just isn't how they deal with this kind of stuff.
<salute>

:salute to all those the community has lost.
We can also honor them by keeping up the fight - and keeping this game afloat until the new version eventually arrives.
-
I'm in mols. Ranger had an idea I liked. Maybe upon entering the arena, the message of the day could list all the known fallen pilots with a brief written salute.
one-eye :aok
-
lost many good friends in this game. havent been able to go to the last 2 memorials as it overwhelming.
I probably would go to the one you proposed.

It is just something I threw together as a thought and I have a month to plan something that will hopefully cover the area's of the Game that these players loved to do. It will be something different. and when i come home tonight I will start working with the AvA guys and maybe Ranger can work some magic with one of his Maps as an honor to the Players

All I need is a list of names Brutha. I'll make something special. If we can get pics of them, I can add them in also, on the sides of buildings & such. :salute

That would be cool ranger I will be in touch with you

Careful. Someone's going to take it badly if you miss someone and it can easily be done.
How far back do you go? For a lot of us that's the beginning of AW but putting that list together would be almost impossible I'd guess. Regardless I'm guessing you're going to have to solicit and get a very large scale community interaction of not just current but also former players.
Given the logistical difficulties you may be better off keeping it a generic event. In fact, you could then open it up to not just those who have passed but also to those who have left for one reason or another, many of whom I miss most.

sorry Molsman, i really dont have the spirit to grieve over players. its in defense of my spirit to wall up. my family, 17 yr old niece, 12 yr old cousin, my dad,my stepdad 2 other cousins and 2 close friends have all died in recent yrs and its tore me and my family to shreds. AH is an escape for me. when we did the CPTDELL memorial flight. it broke me, so i try to avoid these things like the plague. its just too much for me, im weak in that way. sorry

I am sorry if I was harsh that night I know the feeling and that is how I treat this game also an escape but I was just trying to get ideals and all on how to go about this and not just make it where we fly around I was thinking of more like mini battles on the areas of the game these players enjoyed while here with us
-
Molsman I think your idea is a good one but also as Fugitive said many people grieve in different ways. The 365th FBG Hell Hawks has always held a Memorial Flight for our fallen brothers of AHII and we will be having one for Heeler, it's in the planning stage as I write this but a few weeks down the road as his final arrangements are not complete yet.

Mols, you're a good soul.
If I haven't missed just let us know when. We have lost so many here lately. Some just amazing people.
-
Count me in work schedule permitting
-
ja mols I'm up for this. If it comes to pass keep chating it up so I can be there. I work 2nd shift so make it late, like midnight.
Life is short, and the losses keep mounting.

When we would do memorial services for military families, we would have an open mic for those we may have missed. Even if we don't have them all right away, over time we can accumulated them. I like the idea and am willing to help.

When I learned Hooter had stop coming on; I assumed the worse - he once had cancer and I heard it might of came back. I lost all interest in playing after losing my tanking buddy. We'd sit around spawns for hours; while most cried "campers!!" we'd just sit and have conversations for hours. I tried and tried to push myself to come back; unfortunately I just don't have the heart for it.

I'm not dead. but if you want retired players my last flight time logged in Aces High was at the beginning of September 2013. I have kept an active account since AH Beta around 1999 but have not logged any flight time in over two years.
I had hoped to keep my account active forever but with my wife pregnant with our second child coming in just over two months and the struggle to even keep the bills paid as it is I am afraid that I might lose my ability to keep my account going even while I am inactive so that would pretty much be the end of even the possibility of me returning to fly in the Aces High skies when I got the AH bug again as my handle, perk points and achievements would all be lost and it just wouldn't be the same after that.
I'm not sure what will happen but when a definitive end of something could be near you look back on things and try to think about the good times you had and the friends you made and the stuff you did or wanted to do.
but for the purpose of this thread...
I think you would probably be better off remembering those who lost their lives instead of retired though. The rest of us just faded away.
Whels would be on that list. there are some others as well.
-
I remember someone had put up a nice web page table with links to the announcement threads for each person. I can't remember who did it or where it was I'll see if I can't find it if they don't post here.

Good thing is there is always a rotating door of new cannon fodder coming through but players like WWhiskey and HEELER can never be replaced. The game is what we make it and our comrodery and fellowship with one another is what keeps them coming back :rock :salute
