So, when I squelch an Open Ace Ace, does the Open Ace know I've squelched them? Or is the Open Ace blissfully ignorant?
i'm just wondering, because, for the first time ever, I've had to squelch an annoying ignoramus who wanted me - no lie - to carry water for him to call out one of my chess-piece teamies. I didn't actually know to whom he was referring ( he called the guy out by aircraft type in a PM to me, and the call out was pretty rich, given what this moron rides - read ezmode), but, suffice it to say, the Rubber Lizard don't play dat.
I was half-tempted to report the bunghole, but, hey... first offense (or maybe 1.5).
I ask just to know. I'm trying to avoid a vendetta, if possible, also because the Rubber Lizard, when he's not referring to himself third person, don't play dat either, preferring a lower profile.

They are not aware unless they try to PM you after you've squelched them.
I'm of the opinion squelch early, squelch often if someone's getting on your nerves. It's a great tool to improve your gameplay experience.
Wiley.

Thanks, W. Agreed on that last... Generally, my gameplay experience has been pretty pleasant, but then, I'm lucky to get 3 or 4 hours a week. I neither have time for AH nor for Open Aces-in-the-hole, as this dude is/was. He got a kill on me and consequently appears to think I'm his gateway to trash-talking other knights.
So, subsequent attempts, apparently, will send him looking for another handle. That's all good.
Some people seem to think the relative anonymity of the internet entitles them to act like idiots. Face-to-face, not so much, i'd guess... but, as Arthur C. Clarke reminds, a difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has limits.
Okay, nothing else to see here, folks...

ja the same team yap is really starting to bother me.
Some peeps really know how to spoil gameplay for all, with their incessant team player jabs, whines and back stabbing. The drunks are obvious, never know when to let it go........................... .........

Well done PJ. I have had similar requests and notifications of enemy activity. I always tell the sender, never ask me about and or share that type of info again. Then squelch. This game is at it's best when the fog setting is at it's greatest.
-
I've have asked the Bish on 200 where Skyyr is in the past. No need now. :devil
I used to squelch Midway all the time, made my gameplay experience much better. In truth I am sure I been squelched many more times myself, but they are all team mates tired of my ranting and whining on Range. :P
Squelch is very powerful...use it often. :salute

I personally don't give out the names of other players who has been upset by another for what ever ego driven reason they have...I will always ask why they want to know and if it is for malicious reasons I just chat back and forth to the person to try calm it down....I think from memory I have had only one instance where the person was just a total tool and I told them so... I will always let the person know they were asked for however...that way they can choose to PM themselves or let me tell them.
I personally don't squelch.... no point to it for me.... water of a ducks back most of the time

Squelch early and squelch often I say as Wiley stated, especially those who use the 'help channel' for chat purposes. Remember this is a combat simulator, so a guy named Godzilla should have no qualms about offending any one or telling them to shut the pie hole...ya' little geko'

never be afraid to squelch. I am squelching the above guy right now.

Did I mention that I got Skyyr's side of the whole ban story? What's been portrayed isn't exactly what happened.

With all due respect, I don't believe that story needs to come out here.

<begin sarcasm>of course the png guy`s story is more credible <end sarcasm>

It's on film.

Dale has canceled PNGs before. It is possible we don't have the full story. If the guy was unfairly blamed I know the decision will be reversed if appealed.
Cool your jets.
I have no dog in this fight. In any event, I don't know what happened and neither do you.

PM me.

Oh boy! <rubbing hands together>... This could NOT be better.
1. I got the answer to my question.
2. the thread gets highjacked onto the whole Skyyr debacle.
Now that's what I call info-tainment - and in that order. More, please... and if it comes out here, so much the better. While I do have some inside pm info from a couple of generous souls, more is always better.
I'd recommend somebody get nice and loaded, perhaps downing a fifth of absolut first, then spill all here, sparing nothing.
TOS Violation, SchmeeOS Violation... Schmank you.

Nobody really cares. Dale will handle it as he sees fit. Anything else is conjecture.

Of course, Vrac... And, as for you, you have a modicum of sanity after leaving the Damned fold.
Indeed, given the Skyyr "letter" regarding the circumstances of your expulsion from that organization, I'd say you've likely got a right to a bit of schadenfreude.
And yet, this seems to be the thread of people behaving themselves and you show restraint. It's less fun to be adult about it (for others, at least, who would otherwise get to enjoy the spectacle of a full-on tantrum) but, judging by your commentary, I'd say you have adjudged such to be ultimately more worthwhile.
Here's to restored validity. :aok

Should modify/elaborate on that bit about the "letter". There isn't one, afaik (only Vrac can say for certain), but I assume he notified you somehow and, of course, it was news here on the bbs when you were "expelled", for reasons I can only guess.
It just seems like high school drama, some ways... though I get people putting ego in the game. It's a big part of what makes it fun.

I was not expelled. I told them they were hypocrites for saying my very limited smack talk on ONE occasion made them look bad when theirs was causing an outcry on a continuous basis. I told Skyyr (via PM) straight up that if my calling them out got me "kicked out of your little flying club so be it."
There was no vote and I was leaving one way or the other. Best move I ever made.
They didn't like all the time I was spending on creating skins, to boot, which did more for positive PR than anything that can be said or done on 200. ;)
I accept your restoration. Lol. :salute

I have the screenshots of all the relevant conversations including Kruel admitting the story they told on the boards was untrue. But that's water under the bridge.
I couldn't be in a better spot now. I never "got" the antagonist approach to everything. Once in awhile we all do it. But as Standard Operating Procedure? Sorry I ever went down that road for even a little bit. Embarrassing. It was not in keeping with my character.

A little bit is fun, but, yeah, at a certain point you have to wonder if it's "compensating" for something else. You're not the first guy to ever go down a rabbit hole for a while.
Skinning: seems like fun, but, alas, I've got too many projects and hobbies. I will say that Greebo's skins (just my opinion) strike me as markedly superior to eg Krusty's (no slight intended). I still can't get over Krusty's yellow-nosed Jg-54 109. It looks washed out to me. Probably he could revise it for the better, if he were so inclined. In any case, I'm glad he did it, regardless - and it's still a solid contribution. But Greebo's taken it to another level.

Things have progressed since Krusty made those I suspect.
Greebo and Devil505 (among others I do not intend to omit) are exceptional. Have been going over mine, tweaking them as I learn new techniques, but I will never be in their league.

I had to squelch my own C.O. the other night.

I intend to mass report my CO next time I'm on just for fun. SFOX has nothing to contribute to the conversation by way. :P

Yes, we all know Skyrr never lies or stretches the truth
