Title: Mustang Wing Root Fairing - The Near / Far Conundrum Part II
Post by: Vraciu on December 14, 2015, 04:28:18 PM
When I look at the default Pony Wing Root Fairing (the part touching the side of the fuselage) it is a pixelated curved line.   I did something similar with my Mustang skins.   Now that I have learned new blurring techniques I am tacking this with good success.    The problem...   Bump Mapping.

With Bump Mapping off the fairing line looks smooth.   But when I enable bump mapping it seems to be aggressive at certain lighting angles.   At a distance it looks okay.

Is this just the nature of the beast or can it be tamed?

Moreover, does it even matter?    From a distance the fairing line is too small to really see any way.   Should I even care?

I have tried every way I can to show what I am talking about.  I hope you guys can see what I am getting at.    :salute

NOTE: I did not carry the effect all the way forward on the fairing.   I started with the second rivet and worked aft in order to compare/contrast.

Check your bump map file and ensure that the line there is blurred.

It is.  Basically it is a copy and paste of the skin file.
