Lt Herb Hasenfus of the 54th Fighter Squadron standing in the cockpit of his P-38 Lightning during engine run-up at Adak, Alaska, Mar 1943
Didn't see one like this in our 38G inventory. At least I think it's a G, because of the small intakes. Would make a fine addition.

I think it's a good time to call in the lyric1. :D

Thanks Lyric. The shark mouth on that illustration looks way different from the picture but it does offer the tail number.
Any 38 skinners looking for work? :D

is it just me or does that drop tank look like a Cessna 310 Tuna Tank (shape-wise)?

I did a couple of '38G skins (actually I think the planes are '38Es - the 343rd was sent to Alaska pretty early on in the War, but I think they were brought up to the F standard later. ) from the 343rd FG, 54th FS a long, long time ago. The one you've pictured above, 93, and also 76. It was much earlier in my skinning career and so they are not as detailed as my later G's. Looks like I went with the 1943 red-outlined stars and bars insignia. I can't remember but I think I may have even put a pinup playing card taped to the instrument panel in each cockpit. Those are not a decisions I would make today; I would just stick strictly to the photographic evidence.
I just checked and they are both still listed on the skins download page though.

What 38G inventory are you looking at that they are missing from? <S>
