<S> All,
In my free time over the last 6 months I have been putting together an artillery manual for my squad. I am somewhat of a perfectionist so it takes me a while to get it all right and now is over 60 pages long in its full text. Luckily, most of those pages are filled with pictures, funny captions, and pertinent information! I figured since I had worked so long on this stuff and it came out looking so good that I should share it with the community. GVers and artillery enthusiast I think will really enjoy it. Don't get too hyped up though, because most of the "Trade Secrets" have been deleted or redacted all together. It does however provide massive amounts of info regarding artillery capable facets of AH, interesting pictures with hilarious captions, and an artillery quick reference chart for vehicles and ranges! I hope y'all like it and can gain some knowledge from what I have put together.
Leave a comment and let me know what you think...other than I have too much time on my hands and other BS like that cuz you'd be telling me things I already know.
Hope you like it! Click this link to get to the info:

I put together range cards for the 88 AP/AA, M4 HE, and M4 rockets about two years ago. They are clear plastic overlays that I scotch tape to my monitor. The way I gathered the info was I went into the practice arena, set up the target icon at a set distance (and target elevation in degrees above horizon, for AA), and hammered away at it methodically until I got a hit, and marked that gun elevation on the overlay. It got interesting with the 88 bursts out at 10k. The overlay cards work like a charm, but the whole effort kind of got boring. I rarely use the M4 rockets or HE unless I'm close. But every now and then I'll tape the 88 overlay up, nail bombers at 8 or 9 k, and get called a cheater or a lucky bastage. One of my records is nailing 2 B-24's with one burst at 9k away. I finally have film editing capability, so maybe over Christmas I'll put a film together on it.

Pretty funny. Wish you would have left just a bit of the "how to in AH in there" though lol. I know there are a few out there that can hit very long range targets with m3 75s.
Also, I get the attempt at realism and role play fun... but it still scares me when I open a document on my home computer that says CLASSIFICATION: SECRET. Bad joo joo :uhoh

Nice work Merlin :salute I talked you guys up a bunch on this subject. It's really hard to appreciate the effort these guys put into their artillery missions unless you witness it for yourself! One of the many aspects that makes this game great.

LMFAO the "Classified: Secret" thing is done on most of our intra-squad correspondence for effect. It never even occurred to me that that would look real to someone, lol sorry bout that. Also, if anyone who reads this thread and would like to know more about artillery, meaning the deleted stuff, you can PM me in the MA or run with us on an artillery mission. We don't mind teaching people the technique, but didn't want to just straight out publish it on the web.
Also, Thank You Wizz for your nice remarks on the work put in to the Manual! I'm really glad others are getting a chance to see at least an edited portion of it! You could easily equate each vehicle section to a minimum of 8 hours each, sometimes more.

Ha, no worries. It doesn't bother me, it just caught me off guard lol. May have to switch over to run one of those missions with you guys, I'd certainly like to at least have a little exposure to it.
