1948 over Israel was just like AH main arena - spits 109 and P51s in the same squadron fighting other spits 205s and tempests. Then there were also b17s and mosquitos (Brit and israeli) flying about, C47s in the role of bombers and piper-cubs as attack planes... Throw a couple of sea furies and beaufighters into the mix, ex-RAF pilots dogfighting RAF pilots and there you have it.
What a mess.

I liked the part where they talked about banging a bunch of girls while ferrying the planes to Israel (seriously).

Finally got around to watch it. It is very well made and entertaining. As waffen said above, "What a bunch of characters" indeed!
Thanks for posting this NatCigg  :aok

The Israeli airforce and armed forces in general were very fortunate to learn from such great characters. Ezer Weizmann, the second native Israeli pilot in the squadron who was mentioned briefly in the film, was the one to collect all that knowledge, experience and ideas, and then use them in molding the new IAF into what it became to be. He was later to become a legendary airforce commander, and the president of Israel.

Yes! Mostly equipped with the Brewster 239 and some F15s to support them.  :old:
