No hit sounds. Verified by SgtWolf.
Also, cannot adjust Music..... but it is SO awesome, I almost don't want to turn it down.... :D

Beta 3 and ndisles. After loading when you expect to see the tower. I haven't tried the other terrains but I can do that after work.

I am getting a stroboscopic video effect whenever I fire up this version.
Well, it's not just AH so something has gone wrong on my end.
EDIT: I was testing several codecs for optimal YouTube performance prior to installing this latest version. I'm not sure what happened, or why, but after logging into the NDIsles map the video was suddenly stuttering and flickering like the old tube sets. A reboot fixed it.
The game looks fantastic, but I am still seeing some shimmering in the tree shadows. On NDisles TT I am getting 60fps consistently even at 4k, so I cannot wait to see what prime time fleet battles are going to be like. I really am looking forward to open release.
Logging into and out of offline caused no issues.
-
I cut both folders and placed them on my desktop and was able to get into offline practice with no CTD, tested on two terrains.
So that seemed to clear that up.
Also try renaming settings folder and deleting chconfig folder.

you cut? or you copied? just clarifying

I cut. effectively removing both of them but keeping them elsewhere just in case.

Not hearing any hit sounds.. Phast also isn't hearing hit sounds.
We both hear damage like a wing ripping off or whatever but no bullet impacts. I'll check my settings but I've only turned down the engine sound so far so I could hear vox. The rest are default.
also no hit sounds when we attacked each other in vehicles.
Also we took up WW1 fighters and flying near each other and firing the guns, I couldn't hear guns being fired by someone flying very close to me. Not sure if that's intentional or not.
-
ok, I can get into video config on the startup menu, and it has me set to 4096 on the textures, but my screen fov is dropped to 74 instead of 100 ( or 106 ) what it normally is in AH2
it is still set for 1920 X 1200, like AH2, the only change is the fov, should I change that back, to what I am accustomed to? 100 or 106 ( am using 28" 16:10 monitor ), or leave it at the 74 setting ( which makes things look bloated to me )
edit: nevermind, I am going to mess around and tinker with settings and stuff to see what is what and how it affects FR, etc...

i took a 163 up to 20 k and looped over to nose down looking at town. some town objects were unstable in a flickering description, this included the ack guns.

Updated no problem.
Missions Arena all went well, but no impact sound on bullet strikes.
GS4, all went well, upped a Panzer to check gun sight errors. Noted there is NO reference tick at the top for adjusting range on any of the German tanks, also gun sight ranging scales is unreadable in bright sunlight this is true in all the gv's.
AvA, could not up any aircraft or gv.
Very impressed with the "new smoke", it looks so real. :x
-
Yep the new smoke and the fires and explosions especially at night are pretty amazing.
Off to try mission arena.
-
Updated fine. I got no CTD on final exiting the program (patch 89 would CTD or hang on exit almost 100%). From several offline tries I did get one infinite hang exiting a terrain (ndisles).
If you flip a Jeep upside down you can still drive upside down on the underside of the ground.
Jeep tires squeal on dirt, but not on pavement. Perhaps that should be opposite??
Jeep bumping is weird now. Hard to describe, but it doesn't bump at all on flat ground, even rocky ground, if you are going fast. It only seems to bump (a little) if you are going very slow, or bump a lot if you are going slow up a slope. Coming back down the same slope over the same terrain at higher speed and it doesn't bump at all.
-
Also try renaming settings folder and deleting chconfig folder.
HiTech
I renamed settings and deleted chconfig and it works offline. :aok
-
patch updated fine, still kicked to desktop from the tower, as per the previous 2 patches.
Uninstalled then downloaded the full game, re installed. Thankfully it seems ok now.
-
Loaded patch 90 and it ran offline with no problems and on several terrains.
-
On the terrain tiles the GV's would shake and wobble reactively, they still do but in smaller gyrations. If you turn off the engine the GV sits micro gyrating side to side.
17lb still needs a gunsight.
Sounds are the best to date. I'm not sure if it matters, the sound for the 37mm manned gun is firing more rounds per second than the gun is firing.
-
AHIII updated fine.
Flew online and shot at things for a while. Seemed pretty smooth.
I was able to exit the game normally. NO CTD.
The sounds are really great. Appreciate the hard work. :salute

Updated fine from patch 85. Took a P-51D up in the CTF arena. No problems. Sounds on motor seems to only have 1 or 2 sounds tied with it... Full throttle or idle throttle. No wind up sound or wind down sound if you would. Sound stayed the same (full throttle) at half throttle even when slowing for landing. I'll check some more when I can
-
As mentioned before, that's the new normal. These planes have constant speed props so when you change the throttle the prop changes pitch to keep a constant RPM and that means the engine sounds pretty much the same, but a bit quieter at lower throttle. You can get the sound to change by manually changing the RPM setting with the keypad + and - keys.
-
downloaded, installed fine

Ahh, that explains it then. Thanks :aok
-
I haven't checked but presumably aircraft that don't have constant speed props like the WW1 planes or maybe the Fi-156 will have their engine RPM and sound alter with throttle position.
-
I cannot run offline.

I cannot run offline.
Rename the "settings" folder and see if it works.

downloaded and installed fine.
Took a p51 and p38 for a test ride in AVA arena, and the guns sound goofy. Can't even hear the p38 guns firing, and the p51 guns don't good at all. Almost muffled?
Also, when logging out of AVA arena to try and go to capture the flag, the clipboard was tiny and unreadable to select the new arena. Back out to home page, relogged in to arena select screen, and screen was normal again.
I still have the issue when using a mouse for flight, if you pull the clipboard up, it takes away from controlling your plane. I believe a keystroke should control this, not just the bringing up of the clipboard.
HT I think you acknowledged this before and were considering changing it. Players interact with the map a lot online, and this feature is making interacting with the map suicide unless you are on auto pilot. Forget about trying it if you are low on the deck furballing.
Looks great though! Tower sounds make a nice touch.

I remember wishing for some ambient noise like birds chirping in the trees and waves rolling in and glad to see my wish come true. :D

Same here. :) I was driving a Jeep around the terrain and stopped with the engine off. It was so beautiful and peaceful looking around at the terrain that I immediately wished there were birds chirping or the sound wind blowing through the trees. And voila! HT creates it before I even get a chance to add it to a wish list.

I noticed seagull sounds when on the carrier bridge.

In capture the flag I locked up after the flag dropped and I bailed. I also ctd'd after landing with the flag. I had a player joined with me in both cases.

Clipboard too small to read after quitting from tower.
At start up the splash screen window is 1350 x 900 and the clipboard is large enough to read. Native screen resolution is 1920 x 1200 and the game’s video setting is 1680 x 1050. After quitting from the tower (meaning from a terrain or arena), the splash screen window is only 1181 x 787 and the clipboard is too small to read. This has been happening for some time and is not limited to patch 90.
Image: p90_SplashScreenSizes.jpg
Tower environmental sounds continue to play after quitting from a terrain.
After quitting from a terrain or arena, the splash screen reappears and the tower environment sounds continue to play while the music plays.
The tic sound from the clock is very loud.
In my opinion the clock sound is overly loud and annoying – makes me want to hid in the hanger where there is some peace and quiet and I don’t feel like my life is slipping away one tic at a time. :)

That's weird. I've never even heard the clock tick (yet I can hear the birds and the hanger work sounds). Makes me wonder what's wrong with my system.
-
If you enter an online arena that is cycling into night, the tower is very quiet and that tick, tock is very loud. Wonder if we will get individual sound controls for each ambient sound or just a general control for the whole channel?
-
FW190D still missing ball under gunsight.
-
Regarding engine noise- Seems intentional but I thought I would mention it. In a dive at full throttle above a certain speed the engine gets relatively quieter. I *thought* I heard hit sounds from ack when I flew through it, but I could be wrong. My P38 seemed to lose a bunch of pieces silently as I flew through it later in the same sortie.

Ran AutoUpdater Patch 89 to 90 w\o issues.
Went into Video Settings to check all settings....all retained and no CTD on exit...Alpha restarted as expected.
Went into GS4 Arena w\o issues. Took me ole Spitty up.....graphics are superb and sounds are superb as well.
Will do more testing later on.....
All good so far.

Upped a tiger and tiger 2. When in the sight the needle pointing at the distance you're setting at in the sight is missing

You guys, my bad for this question im so out of the loop. Is there a new Aces High or simply an update. Like aces high 2 and aces high 3? Its been almost a year since ive played but i maintain my account.

There will be AH3, which currently is in Alpha testing phase. When the Alpha testing is done, there will be a Beta. When the product is flawless enough to be published, it'll be AcesHigh3.
-
Was in AvA Arena just now making strafing runs on ackack....................
Could hear engine sound change pitch (got louder) when slewing views to either right or left w\ no throttle movement & plane flying straight and level.
Is this intentional?
Also while strafing I took a hit in rt wing but heard no hit sound & also heard no explosion sounds after destroying 2 gun emplacements.....
Outside of this rest was golden for me.

Hits,
To be more clear, the Open Alpha Test forum (you are here) is here to provide access to the latest versions and patches to each version for account holders like yourself. HiTech states what his intentions were here (look up at the sticky post at the top of the forum entitled "Please Read"):
A few things to keep in mind.
This is an ALPHA test. Please do not compare our current alpha to other companies finished products. What you see now may be completely different in the final release.
You are here to help us create a product. We are not here to support the product on your system. Our goal is to fix bugs and complete Aces High, not to get the current alpha release working on your system. When you run into issues please try think about how to recreate it vs simply trying to work around it.
We will have different priorities than yours. Things you may think are major issues may be something we plan on addressing at a later time. An example of this is a current stutter issue with the current alpha release. It is a nuisance for some people, but it really does not stop the current alpha from going forward, and hence I haven't spent much time to isolate the issue. But it will be addressed at some point.
Be sure you install the Alpha into a different folder than your current game folder. Also note, "Custom" arenas are not supported yet. If you see one on the list, that is from the current release and will not work with the Alpha.
Please post all issues/bugs, with the alpha, in this forum only.
Thanks for your help to complete Aces High.
HiTech
The complete download of the current test version will also be supplied in the Patch Download, listed in the top Sticky post section (Patch 90 at this current date).
Important to follow the above directions and save the Alpha Version to another directory path than the current Aces High directory.
After that, subsequent updates will be auto updated when you attempt to access online play (unless the file you attempt to update is more than 1 patch removed; so good to keep an eye out for new patches).
You will notice the auto-updater is much faster for alpha. That is one of the number of things that you will find improved if you decide to check it out. Miss out on a patch, you may have to download the entire utility again (not nearly as fast and a number of GB).
One thing to check before any of this, is the minimum requirements, especially having at least 1 GB of dedicated video memory in order to run.
