Title: Just out of curiosity...
Post by: noobnite on January 07, 2016, 06:38:00 AM
Ive noticed a huge diversity in the player base, and was wondering.....What's everyone do when they're not logged in and whipping my butt? Also, is there any fellow LEO's playing? If so please feel free to look me up in the arenas, either as a wing or your next target. I fly by the callsign "Blue Kite."

I'm in the navy. I'm basically a carpenter. During the day I'm usually on base doing whatever and sometimes I'm home really early. My hobbys are AH, fishing, drawing, shooting and eating lol
If I'm not on Ah, I'm hanging with my wife or playing black ops 2.

My middle name is Leo, and I was born in late July.  I have worked almost 30 years as a vending repair man. Did a year and a half as a parking equipment tech repairing gates, ticket machines and pay stations. Spend my days driving from location to location repairing all kinds of vending machines. Nights I either spend with my wife of almost 35 years, drawing cartoons, or flying Aces High.

I'm a licensed engineer.  I run a small firm specializing in structural work and real estate due diligence.  Projects take me all over North America, from Canada to the Caribbean.  I only venture out of the home office about twice a week (3 or 4 times if it's crazy busy), the rest of the time I'm writing reports.  Which leaves ample time for procrastination and playing AH.  I've been known to play AH on my laptop while riding Amtrak to Boston or DC, over my cell phone's hot spot.  It works.

Retired Caterpillar Technician. (Guess that's why I drive tracked vehicles in AH)  :P

Fell off a Cat D11R Crawler Dozer and broke my neck in 2003, and since then been taking it easy.

Moved from The Windy City to Music City, and bought some property along the Caney Fork River near Sparta, Tenn.

Hope it's an investment in my family's future.  :headscratch:

FYI. The FAA has been putting out open bids which require no college. College ATC programs don't necessarily get you preferential selection like they used to. There has been some controversy surrounding the selection process.

Became an Arkansas registered forester in 2012 and got my real estate sales license in 2013. I mainly do GIS mapping, database management, handle rural land sales, create property sale advertisements, and timber inventory estimation. Hobies include hunting, paintball and anything else outdoor related.

As a military history enthusiast (particularly WW2), I am drawn to AH primarily for the feel of living history rather than the for the sake of finding a fun video game to play - which it is that, too!

Entrepreneur (biotech, software, and finance so far).

Aces High and reading are my main and most-beloved hobbies.  I like reading history (especially WWII history, and more especially WWII aviation history), SF and fantasy, politics, economics, and various other topics.  I like gaming from time to time.

I used to enjoy playing hockey, rollerblading, RPG's, and paintball (and off-road motorcycling in my youth), but it's been a long time since I've done any of those.

I'm a design engineering tech at an aerospace firm. I get to clean up those drawings and make sure they match the end design because those guys can't stop "improving" their designs but forget to update with those improvements. In effect, I get to utilize my apparent OCD, or so i'm told, whilst they walk around like Wally from Dilbert.
Also, love spending time with my wife and two kids, and/or in my jeep, off road or on, and sometimes (too often) under it.

Metro Bus Driver for past 9 years.  When we got the articulate bus in Dec of 2012, I started driving those.  Been driving them since.  Use to play AH a LOT, but not so much now.  Once in a blue moon I'll pop in, but it get's boring very quickly doing strategic runs by myself for a day. :(

Over 3 million miles driven no accidents

Bit envious.  Had a drunk decide it was alright to make his turn right as I was going by; took the nose off his trailblazer.  Didn't feel the impact, but definitely heard it.

I have been a goldsmith for the last 31 years working for family owned jewelry stores in the walnut creek, ca. area. i mainly do repairs, stone setting, and sizing but sometimes make stuff from scratch. I read lots of books: SF, history, science, biographies. I have an unquenchable desire for knowledge. used to play paintball when younger. i like long walks on the beach and cuddling up with a nice cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day, while listening to steely dan on my iphone J/K. I have been riding motorcycles for 40 years and still love the wind in my face. i have been married for the last 20 years to my love of 31 years we have a son and two grand daughters and a crapload of cats.

I have been in manufacturing for maybe 20 years now. I fabricate items out of sheet metal. I have had a lot of fun especially running the press brakes. Aside from playing AH "which is awesome!" I like to read. I have hundreds of books laying about my house that cover the planes we fly in AH and the real pilots that did it for real. I build plastic models of said planes every now and again. I take care of my dogs and volunteer at an animal shelter during the week. I have a few "hens" that come and go from my life and a pet Moose named Winston. I eat pizza and bacon.

I'm a professional animal trainer for movies and tv. When I'm in between shows and actually home I like to fly as much as possible, otherwise I have a wife of 30 years,  3 dogs and a cat that are spoiled. I'm trying to buy a lap top so I can play ah 2while I'm away (10 weeks sometimes) but the Wii fi in the hotels usually suck. Peace.
I use laptop with Verizon usb data device since I'm always on the road when I fly..usually fly 4 hours every night sometimes more..5 gigs a month usually..ping rate 80-110 when in 4g fps 49 to 60 with advanced graphics maxed out asus rog g750js  :salute happy hunting

Recently returned to United Airlines as a mechanic after several year layoff, was kind of a hard decision, means I now commute, home on weekends little time to play AH   :cry   spend that little time with the wife and kids  :cheesy:

Working on the United International trips out of "C" terminal, if your traveling to Europe on United aircraft in the afternoon we may run into each other on board, always fixing nickle and dime last minute stuff for the stews  ;)    Need small AH arm patch or something to put on my uniform  :D

I have a passion like you all for AH and do miss it, maybe in the future I will have some time to play again I am sure AH 3 will be running smooth then  :salute

Retired industrial glass blower, we made all the quartz furnace tubes and wafer carriers for companies like Intel, HP Micron etc. I am also a retired Flight Instructor, did it as a side job for 40 years and have been a RL pilot for 50 years with a Commercial certificate, Multi engine and Instrument rating. for fun I have built three airplanes, the first was a Gyro Copter which was scary as hell to fly, I them built a little single seat Volkswagen powered airplane called a Mini Coupe, it looked like a Er coupe with twin rudders. I then built and still own and fly a RV-6. It is a two seat hot rod, aerobatic and flies 200 mph on a Lycoming 180hp engine. When not messing with that I have a 1969 Camaro that looks totally stock but I have modernized the running gear, dash, and put a Corvette fuel injected engine in it. And yes it is true when you retire you don't have any free time at all :-)

Noobnite, say hello to "Aleric" if you see him on, he is a LEO. Flies as a Bish in Jokers squad.

Hey SlipKnot,
What was your MOS in the ARNG? I was a 19K myself. BTW had a great time sparring with you the other night. You were in a set of Lancs, and me in my Hog. Could not believe a dad gum bomber could turn like that! <S> ( And yes, my gunnery is actually THAT BAD :furious)
And back to my origanal post, I'm a police officer in a town of about 25,000 in North Louisiana. Worked as a correctional officer for 10 yrs prior to this, and was in the La. ARNG in that time. My hobbies include an fascination with aviation, Star Wars, computer gaming, shooting, reading, and being the father of 3 great boys.
And yall I really am thankful to those who took the time to respond to my post. It's great to get to know the community!
